Spate of burglaries in East Dulwich
ianr replied to EastDulwichRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There was some discussion of window locks in this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,537002. Apparently even a couple of these locks in the top side of the window frame weren't adequate against a crowbar if the wood wasn't strong enough. Jeremy suggested a type that goes at the side, that may be better. The URL he linked to is now gone, but here's a picture from the same site, which I think is of that type. What do crime prevention officers say? -
Taking the title of the photograph literally I worked out, to the nearest pixel, where the virtual centre of East Dulwich is -- in East Dulwich Grove near the junction with Lordship Lane, probably in someone's back room.

> and you can see the train line and either someone has a blue roof or a swimming pool can't work out which! On the Google maps satellite photo there's a pair of games pitch areas together, grey and terra cotta coloured, just south of N Dulwich station, if that's what you're looking at. I'd guess that the grey one has been recoated in a trendy blue.

If you're booting the "dead" laptop from an optical drive, you might as well do so with a system rescue or recovery CD, and check at the same time whether the problem is nothing more than a need to rewrite the boot sector or repair the OS.

Did the Kingsdale thread get taken down? Can't see it?

> They say they're from Kingsdale and I have reason to believe they are. Anyone posting from and on behalf of an organisation will presumably use its official email address. Did they? Kingsdale's email addresses are of form @kingsdale.southwark.sch.uk . -

I've had a quickish look through planning applications and decisions since October but not noticed anything that might be it. I did however see that there's an application in for St Thomas More Hall, for a change of use to community and nursery facilities. http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=9547699 And one to convert offices in Blackwater Street to "The Hangout", for leisure classes use, including some anti-gravity classes.

I read your name "night-clicking" to start with. It looks neat and nifty, but what is the actual gain?

Is the 21st still treated as a special one?

No signs on any of the bus stops, but according to the non-date-specific poster outside the station, the stops used are the William Rose one, opposite the hospital, for Tulse Hill direction, but stop U, the Derwent Grove one, in the other direction. I saw an empty one at Goose Green on its way to Peckham, as far from scheduled time as possible. But I think I'll wait till tomorrow. I was surprised to see that the ED ticket office was open, despite no trains.

The National Rail Enquiries page for ED says in the Transport Links section: "Rail replacement - Down from station at existing bus stops on East Dulwich Grove." Does that mean a single designated stop for each direction, or any of them?

Timetable 33 at http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/plan-my-journey/temporary-timetable-b shows trains from both Croydon and Beckenham Junction (headnote K), four per hour at non-peak times, more in rush hour.

So I take it there's no danger, through mutatation or crossbreeding, of their becoming some subspecies of survivalist and acquiring heavy firepower?

*Be vigilant* Possible imposters in the area
ianr replied to Hickory's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What do people want to achieve? We have been told what's happened, but we don't know the identity of the person(s) concerned. We also know that at least one of them has been addressed and so presumably knows that they were under suspicion and have been photographed. Will it greatly help us to see the photograph, given that no offence has been perpetrated? What might be gained by it? What would be the potential costs of doing so? Would there be any gain in any potential perps knowing only that they might have been photographed? I think btw that there's an argument in such cases for keeping observation and/or phoning 999, stating the facts, and letting the police do their own prioritising. -
Aargh, my mistake. Thanks Penguin68, and apologies to Southwark. I'd been looking at the "clear bag collections" list which heads the revised schedule.
-
The published revised dates aren't reliable. A collection due to have been made tomorrow was actually made today. At that rate they might even be back to the standard schedule by next week, a week earlier than published.
