  3. An we'll need some sandwiches and something to drink.
  4. Great. I'll also bring my field telephone made from a pair of sardine tins and some cord.
  5. I've just bought a luminous watch, if that will help.
  6. I have noticed them interfering with freeview reception recently. I suppose that'll be the special ops ECM jamming signals. Or are they using them to beam thoughts to us?
  7. > PS how do I insert websites as hyperlinks please? Standard HTML a tags will do, and you can check via Preview.
  8. > If the police tell you they have searched an area, take it with a pinch of salt and get friends and family to search too. If Nana80 simply wants everyone to be keeping an eye open everywhere, that's fine. After the last sad instance here of a missing person report, the conclusion I reached was that if that any more serious help is needed, it should really be done in a well-organised way, intelligently and systematically. I don't know how we, forum-members or community at large, would coordinate such a thing if needed. But if Nana80 wants to pursue that line, let her say and we can see what emerges. PS What area is he missing from? PPS I've PM'd Nana80 to check that she's reading this thread.
  9. I've just eaten my first physalis or three or four. And it's not even something I've seen in a list of 100 Xs I have or want to Y before I Z. And does anyone know where the UFOs will be landing to resue the select? Does Southwark have anything organised?

According to the http://www.oyster-rail.org.uk/mixing-travelcard-and-payg/ site mentioned by BB, afaics the ?2 extra (for Zones 3-4) would be normal for a single peak journey, as it was overall a "mixed NR/TfL journey" (see Mike's "Things to watch out for" section). Is it possible that you are charged just ?1.50 only when you break your journey long enough for it to be counted as two separate journeys (ie overall taking more than 110 minutes (see Mike's Maximum Journey Times page))? In that case ?1.50 would be the peak charge for TfL zones 3-4.

  12. > I believe that a single train journey payg should be charged based on the zones of travel. The ?3.70 for Shoreditch High Street to ED is the Zone 1-2 fare in the "Adult National Rail through fares" table ("for journeys including Tube, DLR or London Overground") at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/fares-2012/26099.aspx.
  13. > if I ever have to travel to north or SW London, it could be useful. If you're going via Wimbledon, the new timetable gives a quicker, 23 minute journey either way via Tulse Hill, thanks to less waiting time there, if you get the 23/53 trains. Quicker than going via CLJ.
  14. A million minutes comes round every 1.9 years, if that helps. Or a million heartbeats about every ten days.
  15. Neither will 12.12.12.12.26, at least not in east Dulwich.
  16. > I have looked at this Website but the sites mentioned are not precise, the sites that I saw then were blocks away from those marked I've seen enough people saying this to have me wondering whether there is a systematic error in their geomapping software. In fact, if you look at this page, http://bombsight.org/data/sources/, they are fairly upfront about some possible sources of error that may exist in their different data sources. But I do trust that they've checked that the process transforming the original data records to the maps we've been given hasn't introduced any further error. There is presumably scope for checking the original data records against clear recollections of folk like computedshorty. Perhaps such work has already been done. Anyone who comes across any academic papers relevant to this project, please do mention them here.
  17. There is an established "eggshell skull rule" that may be relevant: "This rule holds one liable for all consequences resulting from his or her tortious (usually negligent) activities leading to an injury to another person, even if the victim suffers an unusually high level of damage (e.g. due to a pre-existing vulnerability or medical condition)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggshell_skull I don't want to discuss or prattle about this painful case here but prefer a respectful silence, until at least the inquest.
  18. They are different sites, btw. The OP one was recently registered to the University of Portsmouth, Dept. of Geography.
  19. The site isn't returning any content, and is reporting a heavy load, so probably not much point in trying at the moment. I'll have another look later tonight or tomorrow.
  20. > Yep. Only ?10 an hour too In his second identity the title still said ?10 but the asking rate in the post itself had gone to ?25 ph. Perhaps in that ten minutes he realised it was a sellers' market.
  21. Thanks. I see there's some stuff here too, about existing cycle superhighways: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/11901.aspx
  22. Their student union is on the case. https://www.ubu.org.uk/news/article/UBU/A-statement-regarding-the-University-of-Bristol-Christian-Union/ I hope they get it resolved before someone gets the idea that they have to get the police involved.
  23. Thanks, Burbage. Firstly, I take it that ED is _not_ in one of the test areas to be avoided by planes: it's between the inner northern and southern test areas for approaches from the east. Having looked through all the maps in the PDF, I'd want to see a proper written commentary before reaching any conclusion, and I take it that the trial's still underway. But the impression I get is that ED is, if anything, getting proportionately more of these early-morning overflights during trial weeks, because some of the flights are going over ED as a consequence of avoiding an active inner (blue border) test area. EDIT: 16:31 Sorry, I'm revising that. As Burbage suggests, parts of ED could be said to fall within the southern test area. ED station is on the N of BRIXTON, north of the area; North Dulwich station, within the area, is below its O.
  24. And I see that their Advent Calendar today is offering a discount (up to 15%) codeword. At least Amazon's website doesn't do the seasonal robins, snow, etc, schtick. ;(
  25. wod, you did post some time ago, asking for "Someone who can teach me to ... without screaming."
