  1. Tricolonic. [someone else can crack the joke]
  2. Some residents of Bellenden Village may be concerned about what estate agents did or didn't tell them in the last few years. I doubt whether estate agents' ignorance of local history will feature highly amongst these concerns.
  3. There's some re-writing of history going on here. Bellenden "Road" was only an un-named farm track until the third quarter of the mid-19th century. The "agonies" of the multi-million pound infusion of public money for the middle-classes of Bellenden Village? Make your own judgment about why a photograph of Goose Green is on the Peckham Vision web-site.
  4. Dulwich Village, Denmark Hill Village, Bellenden Village, Nunhead Village, Horniman's Village.
  5. Is it a million pound sculpture?
  6. James? One of those young Honor Oak girls was Rosemary James.
  7. I don't understand why a citizen would wish to evade a penalty by use of "clever words".
  8. Our area is short of Lay Magistrates particularly for the Children's Bench.
  9. Rodwell Road was not my part of East Dulwich. Thinking about what Wardy wrote I do now remember that one end of Rodwell Road was posher than the other. At the posh end some of the girls went to Honor Oak.
  10. > JL and HB, I raise a glass. TLS your list was so 1974. What a very odd comment. Three lists (with extensions). All I can infer from the lists is that Tony is a few years older than the other two. I would also stretch the inference to say that Hugenot is the youngest of the four. Making lists does not define a culture, except perhaps to suggest that part of British Culture is making lists.
  11. Messrs HonaloochieB and Lush, You are betraying your advancing years. You are confusing British History with British Culture. Regards. MacRoban
  12. Thanks, Wardy. I hope your book gets published. One of my memories of Rodwell Road in the late 1950s and early 1960s is that it was regarded as slightly "posher" than the adjacent roads.
  13. The letter misses out the time the parking ticket was taken from the windscreen.
  14. > It's a manifestation of the omnipresent Clapham literary gene which ED residents possess The gene that gives a disposition to logorrhoea.
  15. May I suggest a slight change in title to avoid confusion with an earlier local history book? See here.
  16. If I were Admin, I'd change the thread name to "Cafe 2050".
  17. "Simon Richman, London area manager, had the following to say about the new venue "We are hoping that this class will be will give people a 'Hyde Park 9.30 opportunity' but in South London. Classes are ideal for mums and dads who have just done the school run, or for those who are self employed and working close to the park"" Please can someone translate: "a 'Hyde Park 9.30 opportunity' but in South London."
  18. Southwark News - Dulwich Edition - will no doubt be doing an article on this.
  19. > This allows the elderly Thank you for your permission.
  20. Can Firefox sort out wolfmarkthedog?
  21. BFI on doing the national archival transfers to DVD cropping the original 16/35mm films to 4:3 ratio on the DVD.
