  1. A little fabulation there? If you were born between 1941 and 1961 you could not be born within the sound of the bells.
  2. More likely the Brittunculi were protesting against the Batavians.
  3. Are you sure? I thought it was mainly Batavians that built it.
  4. In the 1950s and 1960s the Young Conservatives was one of the local meat markets. They didn't do politics and young meant up to 25. They might still exist and be worth checking out. N.B. I NEVER WENT THERE.
  5. In which country is Hadrian's Wall?
  6. On page 23 of Southwark PCT's consultation document - "Transforming Southwark's NHS" - it says "Life expectancy varies within Dulwich, with Nunhead having a lower than average life expectancy". I'm surprised. What causal factors are there among the Nunhead population to distinguish it from that of East Dulwich?
  7. In a recession even pork barrels sometimes must have to stand naked.
  8. Gen17, I think you are confused. The penalty I quoted was from the legislation you subsequently named. This criminal offence has a fine penalty only. Imprisonment can be a result of contempt of court. A different fish. MacRoban
  9. Harriet Harman's comments on East Dulwich.
  10. Buffalo Springfield, Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, California, 5 May 1968 These guys were quite good live. Almost as good as Moby Grape.
  11. I hope it snows. Heavily. If the "once in a generation" excuses are exhausted I'd like to read the EDF's "twice in a week" excuses.
  12. An on-going fine of ?200 per day (?73k per year) might encourage a re-build. But imprisoment? Under which legislation? If you know the legislation please quote it.
  13. I thought the owner would only be liable for a fine.
  14. This has a malicious smell about it. Someone should ask the shopkeepers about the evidence/information upon which they based the petition. MacRoban
  15. I see a pattern here. The young can't, the old can. [Edited to avoid revealing someone's age]
  16. I had mail today delivered by my Silvester Road post lady.
  17. The tentative conclusion is that Iceland will continue trading.
  18. Shaun has a flaw. It goes like this: Little girl (with large pleading eyes): Daddy, I'm cold and hungry. Please may I have some food? Father: I'm sorry, we don't have any money. Little girl (with eyes now wet): Why don't we have any money? Father: One day I didn't go into work. I didn't know how fragile my employer's finances were. My employer didn't make enough money that day to keep going. I lost my job. Little girl (gives Daddy a hug): I still love you Daddy. When I grow up I'll make sure we have enough food to eat.
  19. Good evening karter, I havn't been keeping track of numbers. One day when I walked from the Harvester to East Dulwich Station I counted them just for fun. I guess there must now be 18 including Foxtons. Someone else might like to do a re-count. Regards. MacRoban
  20. Karter broke the maiden.
  21. I went down that way to see for myself. There's a (up to) 50% off clearance sale. Seems that it is on a potential closure list of under-performing stores. It would be a pity if the cheapest pharmacy in East Dulwich closes.
  22. Are there no real men left in East Dulwich who know which tools to use to un-freeze a lock?
  23. I'd be more inclined to look at the byzantine train operator/Railco contracts where it might be more profitable not to run a service if there is a "valid reason".
