  1. > Err...Viv Stanshall actually. July 1966 was earlier than October 1967 (Well it was in East Dulwich)
  2. > the mouthpiece of Lord Snooty's giant poisoned electric head Oh dear! How very middle class courtesy of Mayall and God and the fashion thus created.
  3. > I was dragged up. So was Nigel.
  4. > art room... I'm like sooooooooooooooo not middleclass! Call it a studio and move one step of the ladder.
  5. > LMC? Lower middle class? What else are prep schools?
  6. The wealthy have libraries, billiards rooms, and music rooms.
  7. > As any fule kno Very LMC.
  8. > Siting outside an overpriced coffee shop talking rather loudly about their positive financial situation That was 2007.
  9. More funding than the cost of Bellenden Village's new lamp posts?
  10. A Double Diamond works wonders. In my younger days if a young man had offered me an engagement ring with two diamonds... Dream on MacRoban.
  11. This has potential for the EDF 2008 postcard.
  12. Unfortunately(?) dulwichmum is outside the UoD.
  13. Thank you jaytyger, I look forward to reading your book when it is published. A couple of questions based on your narrative: > the Golf links where they paraded/drilled. Lectures were held at the Lordship Lane Hall Were the golf links the East Dulwich ones above the water reservoirs? Where was Lordship Lane Hall? I've read about it quite a few times in various sources but have never been able to identify the location. MacRoban
  14. Sad news, but look on the bright side, it seems you can get Danielle Steel books and Westlife CDs at Dulwich Library. Welcome to the world of Southwark Leisure.
  15. > We are normal and we want our freedom. As stolen by Arthur Lee from Marat/Sade.
  16. Thank you, blinder999. I knew I didn't fit into the New East Dulwich - good to have some scientific proof. [Added postscript]: Can your clever software do a tartan? MacRoban
  17. Iceland and betting shops go in the green circle.
  18. Did anyone posting actually read the particulars? An asking price of ?550k for a 74 year lease with an annual ground rent of ?50 seems reasonable. As far as I know Parkhill Properties does not buy leases. The previous thread on Ralon Stationers was a low-point for the East Dulwich Forum. [Typo corrected]
  19. > So now that we plan to buy a flat then I can put that in my name and live there on and off so that we pay no CGT on either property. HMRC may see your "principal residence" in a different light. Why not write to HMRC in advance and seek their advice?
  20. > Go to any pub/bar in ED on a Friday night and see how empty they are. Well OK the CPT. Since Christmas they certainly seem to be very quiet on Monday-Thursday nights, but this probably has nothing to do with the smoking ban. My impression is that there has been a sharp drop in turnover.
  21. The young ladies who promenade no longer wear hats.
  22. > problem now of course is enjoying a drink in [...] a nice pub with young kids in tow Note the edit. This problem is yet to come - banning alcohol in "pubs" because there are young children present.
