I just can't imagine that poor woman asleep to only be woken up by men inside her home. Horrors. -

yes - I meant the Dulwich Hosital temporary site. Applications for the year 2016 entry are based on distance (crow flies) to the gate on the temporary site on the Permanent School. The fact that the children will be based in a substitute site has not bearing on the applications. The email from the school today says "Our occupation of the temporary site has no impact on our admissions criteria" (this referring to the Southampton Way site). -

temporary site entrance - this was confirmed to me at the meeting earlier this autumn -
surely, if you have a repayment mortgage then you will end up owning the property. Interest only, really - why?

I think they could lose the pub and focus on what the building is really required for. -

it's also serviced by London Overground trains, so Transport for London have a vested interest (whether it's their station or not) -
that's good to hear - sometimes the explanation is the simplest. I don't know if I haven't received anything to my home - everything I've ordered online has arrived, as has everything boring....so the only gap would be things I was not expecting anyway... If I order anything from ebay, I ask for the seller to post 'recorde-signed for' which is really cheap but means the package is trackable.

Sorry, but how many kids stabbed this year in London? and it's not a problem? One is too many. I'm shocked at the apathy. No, its not common in school - thank heavens. But it beggars the basic question of what is going on that we don't know about? I very much doubt that this is the only kid who has a weapon on them at school. My primary school - yes - a year 6 primary school kid - in Herne Hill - was caught with a knife and threatening another child. It is not common, but it is not unheard of. And denying the existence of something you don't like isn't going to make it go away.

If you do see someone homeless, it is ok to ask if they want to talk, but people are all different and may not to talk about their circumstances (would you?). If anyone does see her, why not let her know that St Mungos are there for her. They provide all sorts of support. Likewise anyone else you see. It is very cold and for someone to be outside and have nowhere to go just isn't right.

can't please everyone all the time. perhaps they could sweep them up quietly instead. -
affordability is subjective - as are the values of donations. It certainly doesn't warrant making a judgement on whether it crosses a perceived personal boundary. It's actually quite offensive.

Clearly. But you've made your point and it's time to move on.

Thank you Alec for reposting the Wrap Up London link. It's a brilliant idea and I think that helping vulnerable Londoners directly is really special. I also like the fact that it's easy to drop them off on the way into work at key tube stations. There is a drop off point in North Clapham too.... [handsonlondon.org.uk]

best bet is to smell it - if it smells off, it is! Otherwise it's likely fine for a few days http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1392231/Food-past-use-date-Still-perfectly-safe-eat-according-Tom-Rawstorne.html this article is interesting - and should reassure you...

Wrap Up London - annual winter coat collection
Angelina posted a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This very successful campaign is happening this week in central tube stations. Drop off your old winter coats and be sure it is given to somone who needs it. http://handsonlondon.org.uk/wrap-london-2015-our-5th-anniversary This year's campaign We are very excited to confirm that this year we will be celebrating our 5th annual Wrap up London campaign! Dates are now confirmed and WUL2015 will be taking place the week of 9th-13th November. Last year's campaign was a huge success, with members of the public and businesses donating a staggering 14,700 coats and we are looking for 2015 to be our biggest year yet! We cannot deliver the campaign without support, and all donations are welcome, if you can spare a little money to help with this vital project, please either visit our donation site at Virgin Money Giving, or donate by text by sending HLDN14 ?3 (or your donation amount of choice) to 70070. It costs as little as ?3 to collect and distribute a warm coat to someone in need, so every penny you can spare will genuinely make a real difference to somebody's life. When and Where We will run the promotion for this year's campaign on 9th and 10th November at all locations, with coat collections being held on 11th, 12th and 13th November. Collections will take place 7am-11am on each of these days. The participating stations for Wrap up London 2015 are: Kings Cross Victoria Waterloo Canary Wharf Charing Cross London Bridge Highbury & Islington Euston -
