  1. well, they nearly agree
  2. I would be inclined to have a very visible gardening day and then stay up to catch the thief. Sensor lights would be good. Or you could put notices up on lamp posts drawing attention to the thefts and asking neighbours to keep their eyes open. You could set up a neighbourhood watch scheme and be proactive.
  3. How much of a majority on any of the options would people accept as binding (rather than wanting a re-vote?)
  4. Sacrifice? I suppose there is an assumption some people are unable to see their own failings.
  5. we went a while back and the food was good.
  6. yep. couldn't make it up. HP now stands for Hocus Pocus
  7. If nothing else - it should highlight the fact that this government has let the completely failed in meeting its obligations to the people. We have reduced investment in education, police, NHS; a benefits system run by a company (who have a mission to make profit), fmailies who cannot survive without food banks, huge house prices due to the ease at which foreign investors can buy up stock - people who cannot afford to buy/ rent/ live, job cuts.... It goes on. TM is one part of this failure. The rest of the government should hang their heads in total shame. This is one final opportunity for them to turn this around. The People's March should be looking at more fundamental changes than to get a A50 cancellation. That's really, really nto going to happen. The focus should be on rebuilding the pillars of this country - and starting with an overhaul of what this government are doing with it.
  8. fine - to be pedantic. politicians are public servants.
  9. collaborate - behave in a grown up manner - be able to make decisions - put the people first - not bicker and debase themselves - be transparent - provide full and clear facts - do not tell lies - do not commit to something they cannot deliver and so on. basic stuff really
  10. really? you really think they have been behaving as they should given the office they hold?
  11. This whole debacle has clearly demonstrated that our civil servants (yes - remember their mission being to serve the electorate?) are unfit to do their job. The national catastrophe is that we do not have a viable contender for a decent PM (and extending this to a whole party). The People's March shoudl actually focus on demanding we get value for money from our government. They should all be held accountable to their objectives and sacked if they fail to deliver. There is not going to be a Revoke A50. The elephant in the room is the completely inadequate set of individuals who are holding office. And where the hell have the HOL been when the kids have been bickering?
  12. you just need someone with energy and a saw (and some idea of safety, obviously) my daughter and my bf took great delight in demolishing mine. I'm sure if you put an ad on the forum you would get a reply
  13. If it came in it must be able to go out. Having said that, if it's old and hasn't got the fire resistant tags on, you won't be able to give it away. Chop it up and chuck it out. As for the new one - if they said it would come in two parts and it didn't, then it's fundamentally different than the item you were led to believe you had purchased. And they would need to refund you. Sounds like a modular sofa is ideal for you.
  14. oh yes. That would put the cat amongst the pigeons.
  15. You should inform the police. They can keep track of the number of complaints/ incidents.
  16. The most effective way to affect the climate is to reduce consumption of meat, reduce food waste (actually one of the biggest causes of methane) and shake the consumers up to realise they actually have the power- they can choose not to buy washing liquid that is toxic to the environment (have you read your label?), not to buy plastic bottles of water and plastic ear buds and baby wipes that do not biodegrade (have you checked how many ED mummies don't actually care about that as it's more convenient to just wipe and throw away?). That is all about education. Taking our kids out of school really isn't the answer.
  17. I also agree with Wulfhound People are putting their own convenience above the good for the environment and the bigger picture. My children walk or take the bus to school and I do the same for work. While there are people who struggle with mobility, most people drive out of personal convenience.
  18. Alternative suggestion for OP Title "Fishy Fish Man?"

  20. I strongly disagree in that it would mean some families and some walkers are not able to get to the parks. It's just a money making scheme. We see too much car use anyway but if people are driving to the park for a walk, it's not really that they're being lazy, is it.
  21. I see they have nearly - but not quite reached their target. [www.gofundme.com]
  22. It's definitely more Social Health than mental health. Violent crime is fuelled by poverty, lack of social support services and education (due to lack of funding). Mental health is not the main driver of violent crime. Lack of police and they perception that crime will not be punished (we see that enough) are also factors.
