  1. Peta Credin actually completely nails it.
  2. RH - if 35% of the population voted Leave - what was the % for Remain? Lower, clearly. So - neither are in the majority. Which means the by default that the majority of people don't actually care.
  3. Can you lobby Southwark to get the parking restriction changed to short stops only? Who is your local councillor?
  4. it is indeed possible.
  5. Clearly this is not fact - there is very little 'fact' to what will happen - it's all conjecture. If I was a betting man, I know where I would put my money.
  6. It would be ludicrous for her to forced out or call a 2nd Ref. A General Election would also not serve any purpose other than to create more instability. These would only delay the inevitable fact that a decision needs to be made and that is to exit the EU. This will continue, there will be an extension to A50 and we will secure an exit closer to no deal.
  7. If you look around, you can find deals - coffee usually has markdowns in different shops at different times. I manage to shop in Sainsbury's relatively cheaply, but it is hard work. Apples vary from ?1.50 for 6 to ?3 for 4. I do shop around though and get bits from different places mostly. Sainsbury is nearest though. I have noticed that not all items are priced on the shelves which is confusing. Nuts near the jam for instance - some packs are significantly cheaper than others for the same things. None are priced though so I get the cashier to check them and then decide which I want.
  8. it is a nice idea, but if you are short of space, you would find yourself with lots of seedlings/ small plants which are too young to go outside but need to have been planted on already. Seedlings are only ok in a seed tray for a while but need to be potted on before they can go outside - I suppose you could, at this stage put them in a small greenhouse?) you could save yourself the hassle and buy the small plants directly - there is a local nursery (can't remember name but they sold lots last year to EDF) and then they would be ready to go outside.
  9. I really don't mind other people having parties - BUT the screaming kids at the house on East Dulwich Grove are so annoying. Honestly, who wants to listen to screaming children at the best of times, but after midnight?
  10. James, thanks for that link. The website says the local drop off is Silvester Road and due today. They wrap them as well :-) I'll be dropping something off local to where I work, but I think helping our local children is soo important.
  11. It's a fair comment. There's a serious risk when people touch shared food. Not everyone has good hygiene standards.
  12. Check The Consumer Rights Act. Items should be as described and fit for purpose. They have not fulfilled their obligations with not ordering the item you agreed with them. Google it, get the exact words and put it in writing and demand they replace it with the item they agreed to supply you with.
  13. Good lord. Knock the little b*stards over and then pick them up and charge them. Nothing else sesms to be working. May seem harsh, but tell that to the people attacked / robbed or murdered by them.
  14. good. sometimes it's easily rectified by a conversation and increased understanding.
  15. The Tui advert. Whywhywhywhy? Oh, my ears.
  16. it's concrete at the moment, I intend to level it myself and lay something on it. Concrete is too hard and cold (although, yes - it's good polished. I like the idea of rubber or lino - I didn't know very much about marmoleum. I'm really looking for the easiest things to lay but prepared to put effort in or get someone in if the best solution isn't easy. I thought of tiles but I imagine they would bother my sense of OCD unless they were perfectly laid. I do thank you all for your comments - I'm going to have to have a look around and see what I like really. There are so any options. I think if the floor is smooth, it will be the best start. And now apparently cork is the big thing....I shudder at that.
  17. Where there is lack of morals, tempatation and low risk, what do you think people will do? I know shops where staff have been told not to interfere as that's what security guards are for. Really, I wouldn't want to, if I worked in a shop - I don't know what I would be confronting and if it would be a threat to my safety.
  18. While there are many instances of abuse/ cruelty there is absolutely a reason to respond to an individual instance. It is not ok to decide not to bother because the sheer scale appears insurmountable. So yes, save the terrapins and also note that there are other instances. Don't just so all incapable and say there are too many instances to know where to start.... and turn a blind eye.
  19. Yes maybe, but not necessarily. If anything else it would be proof of the fact and the damage it's causing. I'm not suggesting an emergency but they do safety checks for residents.
  20. I am the owner of the flat my friend lives in. The owner of the neighbouring flat owns a share of the freehold. We normally get along and do still.
  21. No, it reached an impasse - their landlord refused to confirm if it was in their lease, so we assume there wasn't a clause. There is the allegation that my friend is a troublemaker and paranoid. Their landlord wants to visit his flat to see for himself but wants 24hours notice. My friend doesn't want him to as he feels intimidated and knows that any notice period will give the other tenants opportunity to avoid smoking and then it will look like a fuss about nothing. He has had post stolen and items stolen, cameras broken and the lock to his gate smashed, so they just go into his garden. None of which is provable though, so they claim he is just making it all up. It's difficult - I'd advised him to call the fire brigade when it's smoky and also to contact the police about the other things. I can't force him to do anything, but it would seem like the correct steps. I've spoken to his landlords about all of it and he is very dismissive. He claims his tenants have similar complaints.
  22. That's brilliant to know. I'll share that as hadn't heard about them
  23. So in summary, there are lots of ways to make your journey faster. Have you actually been proactive and contacted TfL or are you just having a moan?
