  1. It's a great project - thanks for keeping it highlighted. WE sent some over via Amazon - it was really easy :-)
  2. How much free time?
  3. I think two males might fight but you could check that out online. We had a family of GPS and they were ok, but maybe because they grew up together - it might depend how old yours are. Rabbits make great friends for GPs too.
  4. SpringTime - that is very disturbing.
  5. There's lots online. Just google - how to look after guinea pigs. They like living with each other - they're very friendly - don't keep them outside in winter and when they are outside, they like a run so they can play on the grass but need to be safe from predators who can dig under the edges of the run. they like fresh hay and straw and a water bottle. Lots of dandelions and other green things, and carrots especially.
  6. ditto! The point is, no one seems to have been involved at the selection stage. I would easily be able to circulate this and get a variety of styles and a broader choice. It seems to have been signed sealed and delivered in a pretty uncollaborative way.
  7. There is nothing wrong with people asking questions and to be called vindictive for doing so is just a bit bullish.
  8. Perhaps the funding is provided by "Our project partners are: Southwark Council / Network Rail / Dulwich Festival / Dulwich Outdoor Gallery"
  9. interesting that there are no answers from the organisers
  10. have you reported this to Transport for London? They own the Oyster readers
  11. I wonder who selected those shortlisted? I'd have preferred to be consulted earlier in the process of selection
  12. Likewise, Sue. That's the stance I took.
  13. that is actually a wonderful idea and would celebrate her legacy perfectly.. I was a bit put off having lettering or pop art and was hoping for something meaningful.....
  14. yes - fair enough. sorry to react, it just really bugs me because they are our children and so easily turned into numbers.
  15. Eugh. just the thought makes me feel nauseous. I don't like slugs at all at the best of times.
  16. It's a moot point as whether there in an improvement or not, it's no comfort to the families of the victims. The fact is that it is still happening is THE point. And why are you comparing London to New York? It's not a bloody competition.
  17. We use egg shells you can also use sand, as it's quite sharp adn they won't want to cross it. Some plants repel slugs so you could plant rosemary as well. Or copper wire...it gives them a shock so they won't go over it.
  18. we have a family of blackbirds and squirrels in the tree and a robin comes down when I'm doing the garden. A pair of wood pigeons come and visit sometimes. Also have a fox run through the garden (it's his normal pathway) and a couple of cats - pretty quiet and peaceful.
  19. Too many of our children are involved in mischief they either don't fathom or cannot get out of. I wish we had more police - they are stretched so thin. We all have a responsibility for our community so if you see something or are worried about someone do say so. Children don't always realise that the adults do actually care and they think they have to deal with everything on their own. I know of a little girl who carried a massive knife one day because she was being bullied and no one listened to her when she told the grown ups. It could have ended so differently to the way it did, thanks to watchful and very caring teachers (although could have been avoided). Thank the heavens that this particular incident was not a fatality, but it does not diminish the seriousness of the violence and it does not diminish our responsibility as a community to protect our young people.
  20. ED is very much London - it's not the suburbs by far. Sorry, but London rules tolerance.
  21. so - is it true?
  22. let's hope they leave more business cards and more people (like my other half) call them That WOULD be fun.
  23. That's brilliant - they will do a roaring trade. I can just imagine the mornings, 'Just popping out for a run, darling....." and secretly scoffing a bacon buttie on the way home.... seems to appeal more than a fly-egg infested slice of cold quiche
  24. THAT would be depressing. It feels a bit like it sometimes. BUT it is a city and there are people and people make noise and have parties and enjoy life.. and that's a good thing.
