Property Management Company - also Freehold Company Secretary
Jules-and-Boo replied to Jules-and-Boo's topic in The Lounge
Ianr - I don't know the answers to all of your questions. I'll need to check other shareholders. I am definately owner of the freehold (share of) for two of the flats and leaseholder for one. I don't know for certain that the PM is not also a shareholder. I'm not a director. I have asked the secreatry for the copy of the lease for my flat and they refuse to give me a copy (Co House sent me the lease for the whole house, which I think is differet). The PM also refuse to send me the copy of their contract with the freehold Ltd co. I need to check the Section 20 as I don't know - but thanks for letting me know I need to find out. It's a bit confusing and I feel like I'm being led in circles by the PM/ Secreatry and really need to know how to get out of this loop.... -
ditto - you do not need to prove this to him. you have identified the abuse - and that is all you need. The next step is NOT to try and rework it or analyse it. It is to get away. Get safe. Abuse only gets worse. Do not stand for bullying - in this case psychological abuse. Tell someone. Have a chat with your local police. This type of abuse has been recognised as a crime and you need support in how to get away. If anything else happens, they will already have a record of your situation. They have a domestic abuse unit. Let people know what's going on - it will keep you sane as well. Do you have a friend as well who can support you? Never underestimate talking.

well the EU is p***ing of the USA (think they're picking on their baby Apple) and I can't see that they're any nearer to the golden trade agreement that they were so positive about (remember Obama saying Britain would be pushed to the end of the queue?). Funny, US says they are, EU says it unlikely to be soon.... The threats are just not materialising.

Property Management Company - also Freehold Company Secretary
Jules-and-Boo replied to Jules-and-Boo's topic in The Lounge
eight others. I own the freehold of two of the flats. I want to complain but feel that the complaint I make against the Property Management compamy and their work will be reviewed by the Co Secretary - who happens to be the same that I am making the complaint about. I have spoken to one of the directors and he is very unhappy with them as well, but is not a very savvy person and probably feels held to ransom, as I do. the general understanding I get is taht the other freeholders are also unhappy. the Co secretary refuses to give me their details so Ic an contact them (flats are rented out, largely) -
Hi - need some advice please. I'm having problems with the work the Property Management company have done on my flat (I own a share of the freehold). I've asked them for the specifics of the contract they have with the company that is formed by the Freeholders (Ltd Co) which they refuse to give me. I've just looked on Co House so I can contact teh directors and have seen that the Property Managemet Company is also the Company Secretary. I'm sure this is giving them ample scope to overcharge and do no work - or leave work in a state that requires re-work. I'm looking to complain to the ombudsmen but need some advice on how to untangle this....

Louisa, I do agree, it's not been thought out in terms of practicality - it seems they were more interested in maximising financial return (hence removal of the cark park). As a massive food store, it's akin to opening a Sainsbury's and not allowing for any parking. A convenience store implies you're just picking up one or two items and can hoof it without a car. A huge shop implies a weekly shop and I'll be darned if I'm carrying anything myself on that scale. I'd probably pop into the carwash and go shopping then.

(homeless) Turf war outside Coop

I give money to the big issue sellers and food for those that take me up on the offer. I think you live somewhere long enough, you get to know people - surely you actually talk to the people you give money to? Organised begging is a hugley profitable business... tugging on your hearstrings of quilt and the knowledge that hardships are easily stumbled upon. I remember the pregnant woman outside Brixton station with a sign saying - pregnant, no money, no food please help.... immaculately dressed and nice new nails..... Couldn't stop laughing at the audacity...she'd done well though. -
I've never been skiing.

Remineralising teeth - any experiences?
Jules-and-Boo replied to Jules-and-Boo's topic in The Lounge
thanks all. The dentist got a bit excited and was pretty fast getting his drill out - it was a bit too over enthusiastic. I didn't stop to see if he would discuss something more holistic. He didn't offer any flouride varnish. Drilling was the only option. midyvale - that would be great - thank you! I've done quite a bit of research now but I've not had any info on that before. I'm starting with supplements (calcium, Vits A, D, K and cod liver fermented oil capsules) and going to be strict with my diet and see how it progresses. I'll go back in a couple of months and see if it's arrested or worse or better. Actually, I don't know if I'd dare go back there. I'm booked for a drilling on Monday but want to give it a couple of months.. I might find a different dentist and see what they say. Oil pulling, yes - have begun to do that, I've done it before and was ok with it, just not had it in an established routine before. -
I have a capvity, which is not very good news and I want to know if anyone has any experience of remineralising their teeth through diet etc - or if the only solution is the drill and fill.

my sister has an annual summer party - with live band - and invites all her neighbours... it's pretty much an open door policy and we've had a number of gatecrashers over the years.... maybe I'm just immune to it all. Generally, in terms of what's acceptable - if it's a regular event, then I can imagine that being an issue to address...likewise if there is aggression, fighting, damage, mess. If it's infrequently then it's one of those things. Maybe get yourself invited to the next one - then no problem!

4am on a Saturday night. Are they generally horrible neighbours? did they let you know in advance? Does it happen regularly? What happened when you went there at 4am? were they hostile? personally it wouldnt' bother me. It is summer and it is London. Could be worse.

I don't understand "black lives matter"
Jules-and-Boo replied to TheArtfulDogger's topic in The Lounge
so BLM is about BLM IN REALTION TO POLICE specifically? or generally? In which case does BLM cover gang culture and reducing it's damage on families? and all other community issues? Does it stretch to equality on work/ school. Or is it just unspecific. Should it be more specific? The inequality in states is not the same here at all. In itself is the movement defining itself as protest at any injustice or is it actively trying to reduce the injustices? Guessing I'll just get into trouble now for asking. -

yes - sorry both - I don't know what I was thinking - I was actually doing two things at once, but not concentrating properly. Three actually.

you could always borrow a cat and they woudl quickly disappear. having said that , if my cat catches one she doesn't really 'get it' and just sits on the little thing and suffocates it. practically, figure out where the gaps are - under kitchen units and so on and plug them http://everydayroots.com/how-to-get-rid-of-mice - /how-to-get-rid-of-mice some good ideas here
