  2. And don't get me wrong about the cricket thing - I mildly enjoy catching up with the cricket but I love the football. The problem is the saturation coverage with footie. Five Live are having commentry on five premiership matches next weekend - five - and its not even August Bank Holiday! Bang goes all the work I was supposed to do - bang goes my Forum habit. If only I cold resist...
  3. having just read all the skepticism on this thread - I don't need to watch the thing. citizen
  4. this poor little runt of a limerick has been left dangling... Jah Lush has gone down the boozer Cos with limericks he's a bit of a loser I'll add... He mixed grape and grain...
  5. Took me ages to move to London, even though I always wanted too and now I'm here, I can't imagine ever leaving - whether ED - is another matter, though as per previous post would like to think I could be. If not, then I cannot imagine being anywhere that was too Torygraph or Daily Mail, which seems to be the problem with most of the nicer places I have visited in the UK. (If there are any, please let me know). If I were to leave ED, it would have to be somewhere closer the centre like Fitzrovia or the Southbank somewhere. citizen
  6. *feeling psychologically bruised after cancellation of holiday, saunters into Quiet Room for quiet pint* *idea- pitch tent in here* *dumps rucksack on floor, finds nice spot by the patio - deftly erects tent in silence* *looks out for bears*
  7. East Dulwich could do without the huge police station. It could be replaced by a smaller, user-friendly one. Community Wardens could be based there too. A police station ought to be a place that members of the community feel belongs to them. Places like Brixton and Camberwell obviously have greater need for larger, well manned stations. The idea that those ones are on the list seems odd. Citizen
  8. I am so enjoying East Dulwich at the moment that I can imagine living here for a long time yet. Whether I get to 70 who knows as needs and requirements chop and change. We also have to go through that secondary school debate - have to check on how things stand in around ten years time for that. But I guess if ED trends continue for the next 40 years, ie it still retains that independent high street feel, the parks continue to thrive and it retains the diverse social mix, then, yes, I could well imagine being here. citizen
  9. How awful - condolances to the guys's family.
  10. Too, right MM - much as I love the footie, I just wish that the season did not start until September. My poor brain gets confused when it overlaps with the cricket. Radio five will be awash with punditry, comment, analysis and commentry - which means my body clock will think it is summer but my senses will think it's autumn. Football starting in August is the equivalent of those signs in BHS that say "Back to School" - you've only just broken up for the holidays and the bloody adults are telling you that you've gotta get ready for school - huh! citizen
  11. Thanks for the original post, Lee - I dunno, from having your name on all those jeans to creative tea-boy at White Stuff, w'appen? citizen
  12. *reveres Mockney for ability to "think perfect"* *rues own ability to "think wonkily"* *damn those Slings*
  13. 'fraid I can't make the Plough on Fri - pity since it is my local. I reckon we could go for a regular meet in Sept, on the 7th as Georgia suggested and then have a birthday bash too. How about the Herne for September? citizen
  14. I'll have to check that one out boosboss. The one I'm thinking about is in the garden of the Dulwich Picture Gallery. citizen
  15. When the forumites turned into heroes...
  16. *wakes to smell of gin and cherry brandy* *sounds perfect for another sunny day* *the enforced squinting will help keep glare from eyes* *Happy Sunday, punters*
  17. Vik, - Scrumping mulberries. Ever played? citizen
  18. Lordship Lane, well Northcross Road to be exact, is getting a Pie and Mash shop - at Emilys Fish and Chip shop - think it opens mid August. citizen
  19. *at end of "Dead Poets Soc." screening wipes tear from eye* *not because film so moving you understand - but because only three forumites turned up* *and because two of them stole out to the CPT* *Belatedly notices DM in chair by window* *spies Ana with vacuum* *lines up a slaughter of pints* *recites lines from Wislawa Szymborska poem* *Whatever you say reverberates, whatever you don't say speaks for itself*
  20. the Innocent Smoothie people are doing their festival in Regents Park this weekend if you fancy travelling further afield. Looks like they have got the weather for it. Supposed to be baby and toddler friendly but have to admit, went last year and it was not quite as promised. Still they have scaled down the event this year. Link here citizen
  21. Mr D, any idea when the laid-back Lido opens? If the've been rolling up perhaps they don't even open by 12. citizen
  22. -- moved topic --
  23. Macroban is the East Dulwich oracle. OK so not East Dulwich, but where, in the vicinity is there a fruiting mulberry bush/tree? citizen
  24. *cheers for nod Jah* *sets out chairs and projector for screening of "Dead Poets Soc." for later* *complimentary booze at bar for attendees* *expecting crowd from forum limerick club ('bout as poetic as we can muster)*
  25. Jeez, Muttley - got your Cyrena Road quetion coz I used to walk there often, but this one has me stumped - it's not the place on Marsden Road, is it? citizen
