  1. Owuou? it's called something like that. Still has the the HUGE sign for the property shop above it - a smaller one for the barbers below,
  2. Took car in for service and MOT Went to see Peter Doig Exhibition at Tate Britain Started a book (don't worry; reading, not writing) Made dinner Picked up car from garage - put on brave face as I paid Ate dinner Missions Accomplished!
  3. And you'll be very welcome Moos, so hope you can get there.
  4. I've started a book about Summerhill School - the libertarian place where all the lessons are voluntary and is largely managed by the kids. I've not actually finished a book for a couple of years (since the snappers came along) so here's hoping.
  5. Mockney, agree that "Hit Me, Baby..." was brilliant pop - but I kinda like this too - felt it was for Britney what "Can't get you out of my Head" was for Kylie Britney - Toxic
  6. buying bottled water when you are out and about is simply down to being organised - fill a bottle with tap water and take it out with you and you're sorted, if not you have to buy one. Buying it in a restaurant is down to psychology - we are uncomfortable with a waiter thinking of us as a skinflint, so we buy the bottled water. There is a degree of psychology in the whole business. There is a kind of snobbery regarding second-hand things. Bottled water appears new whereas tap water appears used.
  7. Well done to Liverpool - Gerrard's goal was pure class - love d the surprise element and the way it slipped past four Milan players on the way through. Anna and Sean - that should be a tonic after the debacle of Saturday.
  8. Happy b'day, Tillie ('specially since you going up town n'all) So, Aquarians; Jah, Tillie and...er...moi. Sean?
  9. Liverpool 1 - 1 Inter Milan Olympiakos 0 - 1 Chelsea Arsenal 1 - 0 AC Milan Celtic 0 - 1 Barcelona Lyon 1 - 1 Man Utd how is that for conservative predictions - if I was doing it as a schoolboy there would be at least 18 goals over the five games with Arsenal getting 5.
  10. Frankly Mr Shankley - The Smiths
  11. Lovely JustDesserts, What a charming first post - so amiable and quirky and, er, poisoness.
  12. Smug East Dulwichites self-congratulate at leisure
  13. MadWorld said "Mr MW74 has wet himself over the USA vintage clothing...." Bloody hope it's all dried out by Saturday!
  14. Ummed and arred about whether to spend one on a half hours on Enemy or two and three quarter hours on Kingdom. Opted for the former. did not start watching 'til about 15 mins in as is the custom in our place as we are always engaged in the essential moving about of stuff from one part of the pad to another. Don't think I missed much. Chances of me catching the next 4 episodes: nil. This as much to do with my incompetence than their poor program making.
  15. Who would you prefer to be this evening: Liverpool supporter or Arsenal? Hangs head in unbelievable shame.
  16. Sad to hear about this too. This is my local newsagant too and they are always friendly in there. Feel sad for them - hope it doesn't take them long to pick themselves up.
  17. EDOldie: guilty of crossing only On the day of Lush-es fif dee-eth He said "pass that drink o'er to me-eth" Still, I'll take the BSC if you're offering.. on the day of Lushs 50th He was feeling his thriftiest He'll frollick and flirt
  18. He said "pass that drink o'er to me-eth"
  19. Happy Easter, Jah.
  20. I agree with Alan: just allow drugs in sport. Athletes are hardly "normal" people like us, they have spacial diets, training regimes, nutritionists and sports psychologists to ensure that they are not normal. The whole debate is skewed by the charming but totally antiquated view of sport as an amatuer pursuit. It's not. Just throw the doors open and allow anything - spend the money saved on the development of sport for youngsters.
  21. we came, we saw, we stayed.
  22. Man Utd 1 v Arsenal 2: Brave, brave man Atila predicting a victory at Old Trafford. How long since united have lost two on the bounce there? Still, I bloody hope you're right. Even if Utd win, we'll still be top. Noticed that United are only the second richest club in the world. Think they'll have to get used to being second, eh!
  23. My latest LoveFilm selection included Hilary Swank's film "Freedom writers". The fact that it is about a middle-class white teacher turning round a class of low achievers in LA had me worried since I usually distrust films that are "based on a true story" but have to say, despite a touch of sentimentality in places, this one was moving and satisfying.
