  1. Still, I'm not convinced about this right for the paying fan to shout obscenities at a player, especially if it is personal. How exactly does this work? I can imagine Academy footballers training regime going something like this: learn to trap the ball over there, learn to shoot over there, practice dribbling over there and passing over there. Good lads, now go over to that corner, and learn how to take a sh!t load of abuse, vitriol and hatred. Why on earth do we associate "being good at football" (and lets face it all the players on the park are better than us), with "being able to brush of a torrent of personal abuse".

  3. Although there are some at Battersea Children's Zoo, Brendan. Maybe they escaped. Back on thread: sainsburies is my nearest supermarket large enough to do the weekly shop - and therefore it's my favourite one.
  4. Cunning reference to the fact that the drinks will run over into on Saturday morning or simple justification why you are never seen at the drinks, Karter?
  5. Wasn't this in the current bun, "Rats Eat Man's Motor"?
  6. Just because you're a crap footballer, or you make a simple mistake during a game, does it give someone who paid to watch you play the right to jeer at you or verbally abuse you?

  10. I think I'd go more for the two-class system as preferred by Tony Benn, the ruling class and the rest of us. Basically forget the working class/middle class divide; it's a red herring. What matters is whether you have to work for a living or not.

  15. "Daddy or chips" was a classic: nice one Mighty. One of my favourite recent ones is that one with a mum and teenage daughter, where the daughter is extolling the virtues of her friend's mum, including the fact that she eats a certain breakfast cereal, the conversation evolving just as the mum in the ad is helping herself to said cereal. For sharpness of script, timing and delivery, it is hard to beat. Still, the fact that i know not what cereal it promotes is testimony either to the ineffectiveness of ads or the paltry nature of my memory. I like this too:

  20. I think many people's disappointment about the prospect of a bookies opening on the woolwich site is simply about what could be there in it's place, however unrealistic that may be. There are already Bookies on the Lane: wouldn't it be great to have a record shop?

  24. Today, Cheese and Tomato rolls, sprinkled with pepper, made at home. A Mug of hot water. And a banana. Yesterday, the same. The day before, the same. And the day before that, so on and so on, ad infinitum... Are my taste buds truely narked off with me.
