  5. turney road closed until 19th November ( I think I was that as it was raining). Unbelievable knock on effect with traffic.
  6. I have no idea what happens in these cities over the Christmas period, but I would rather go to one of them on eurostar than drive the 9 hours to Glasgow :( I quite fancy going for 48-72 hours to Paris or Brussels . Does everything close down 27-30th December or can I still bag a few art galleries etc? Does anyone have any useful advice? Many thanks
  7. Try this: http://www.pcs-hpnw.org.uk/resources/Questions%20for%20redundancy%20consultation%20meetings%20and%20appeals%20v2.pdf I used it and nearly fell of my chair at some of the answers they came up with-then took legal advice. ( I worked all my notice though)
  8. my teenager is away - I found 4 glasses 2 mugs 3 teaspoon 2 plates and a fork in his room. All now washed. I also found a load of dirty smelly clothes in his laundry bin-including all his sports kit - I have left them for him :) ( because he does not need any of my help anymore................)
  9. LOL. Count me in! Do you think we can all have a huge party the night they go????????????????????Then de-clutter their rooms.......look under their beds and find a whole set of crockery/glasses and cutlery.x
  10. Cats eyes by Margaret Atwood.
  11. I often see dogs in Crystal Palace Park lake early Saturday mornings.
  12. do you think universities will take undergraduate teenagers a few weeks early?( on the grounds they are driving their mum up the wall?)/ what privileges can you take away from an 18 year old?
  13. I think ?10 an hour minimum, depending on their qualifications and experience. also if this is their only jobs they wont pay tax on this.
  14. We re -use all our bags, and use proper bigger bags when we do a supermarket shop. If single use bags are done away with , you can bet that shop prices will not drop and we will have to buy little bags to replace them as bin liners, sports shoes containers, picking up rubbish etc.
  15. Hey! I went to Sheffield Polytechnic and it was GREAT. I would have hated Oxford University.
  16. Housing associations often liaise with refugees and might be a good access point.
  17. If your house sale details are not on the land registry after 6 months, it probably means you have a rubbish solicitor .
  18. I am pretty sure in Bromley " intu" shopping centre there are women in white coats coming out of shopping unit offering something along these lines. I can;t recommend it though
  19. Well Robert,I had "an open conversation " with said parent and although I know this was his parenting approach, it had never been vocalised. He just said "that's one of the basic differences between north and south" , and I thought no,( its just you) and then ( being a bit open minded) I thought well may be it is? I left the north 27 years ago so have no other reference point. Any way no sleep being lost, just curious. :)
  20. I have been accused of adopting southern ways. I say how I feel quite often. I openly praise my children ( 18 and 22 now) IF they have done well. My father on the other hand has never said to my face "you have done well "etc etc. I am "over " this by now, but is it just my family? He says things like " yes, he's done well , but don't tell him or he'll get big headed". I am not asking for therapy ,just trying to see if it's a family thing??
  21. cleanliness and a big enough fridge / freezer, enough cutlery and crockery and pans /overn trays to cook a meal not reheat ready meals. Sounds fun!
  22. steveo you were listening to the Today programme too? Just feel like leaving them all too it, sometimes it feels like they live to hate.
