  1. I would try a trip to ikea just to have a look.
  2. Ah the Lone Pine Five, now you are selling it to me
  3. I hear you can ski there ;)
  4. I assume you need care in the school holidays too. Best to manage a situation yourselves where you have the nanny all day and hire her out in the mornings so you have overall control. All with her agreement of course, but that means you are guaranteeing her a higher rate and taking the risk but are in control.
  5. In Lambeth we can only dream of brown wheelie bins. We can "opt in " and pay for green sacks to be taken away every few weeks.
  6. Did anyone notice in his last tv outing how Gordon Ramsey has adopted "Jamie- isms"? That is flattering .
  7. maybe insurance claim anyway?
  8. if you have room maybe nursery with au pair ?
  9. But if they only earn ?50 a week and are not tax payers then that's fine isn't it? Isn't the threshold for tax much higher than that?
  10. what was the course???
  11. I don't think that's strictly true Uncle Glen. Students and mums whose partners work have always done this type of work too.
  12. I agree but it is important to record milestones. esp if there are problems later on, like autism, AS/ADHD/deafness etc etc
  13. perhaps you could set out exactly what 100% as opposed to 120%? Can you bench mark it somehow? can you compare it with a competitors product/ service- can they try being a customer of another competitor and see what 100% IS?
  14. What exactly is the purpose of the trip?
  15. It does say up to 18 months. Sometimes public authorities can only deal with long time frames. eg My fathers blue badge was going to take up to 40 days to process- and came 6 days later. Just sayin....
  16. Alan, don't be so coy, just open the letter up and tell the source they have the wrong address!!
  17. Tricky one- I would ask your inlaws first- if she can come and help out? if for example you can delegate her to do 2 families ironing etc etc then that is not a holiday I think you have to pay her but I think you should just be open with her- once you have squared up with your in laws, you should be able to have an open conversation with her- maybe now is a good time to talk about your future holiday plans so she can plan in advance. What has she been doing for the past 6 months in the uk?maybe she has some mates from then? Maybe she would prefer to stay in your house and take it as holiday, or maybe this is the time to ask her if she wants to do things like clean out all your cupboards etc etc. If you are taking it out of your holidays , and you have the same days as her, then you will have to be careful you don't run out of holidays your self. Good luck
  18. it probably says in their lease that they must carpet all the floors and then you can insist the landlord reinforces this part of the lease?
  19. How about something consumable for you and then a charity gift for the Philippines?
  20. I buy man of dulwich a bicycle for a midwife in Vietnam/India/Africa every year- he is happy with that. Then I might buy him a small item like cycling socks which cost as much as half a charity bicycle........
  21. David A Thanks for sharing that :)
  22. I recommend the no drink Mon- Thurs rule- unless you are going out or have guests- although offering people a glass of wine at 4pm caused a few raised eyebrows...........
  23. I think a golf is a lovely car. A lot depends on how long your legs are- I would try both a golf and an audi A3 see which feels more comfortable.
  24. avoid as much of the M25 as you can- I would go in to town and then out- kind of!
