  4. For the first 16 years of my life holiday was going to Derbyshire for a week or 2 every year to see relatives. Luckily all the relatives lived in Derbyshire so it was a one hit does all. We really looked forward to it . My children have had holiday trips to Norfolk and Glasgow every year for the first 10 -15 years of their lives too. As grandparents have died, and the children become teenagers ( and childcare costs have disappeared), we have managed to coerce the granddads to come to us /with us sometimes, so in more recent years we have had a week or two somewhere abroad. However, I do think staying in your own bed and having long day trips out is a pretty stress free holiday.(Especially if you buy ready meals/ eat out) Dulwich during the school summer holidays is perfect, so quiet, little traffic.

  10. Hi Jolly We have just started a small English Class in Dulwich for au pairs, so they can meet other au pairs and learn English in a small group with a focus on useful Language for au pairs. This is particularly true at this time of the year, where other language classes are full. Our facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/pages/English-Teaching-in-Dulwich/1509284502625768 or you can email me at:[email protected] for more information/ private classes. We are running a 4 week block session after half term and intend to run courses in September, and possibly over the summer if there is enough demand. Being a family member of sports clubs, such as JAGS or Dulwich Sports Club is a useful way of meeting other au pairs. There are a number of facebook au pair groups that she can join to meet others. She may want to stay clear of German families ( it won't help her English ).Good luck

  13. http://www.dulwichestate.co.uk/ This should help, but this is what your solicitor is for. Your solicitor/surveyor should help you work out if the property has had any alteration carried out to it already that required the Estates consent ( where requited)and you have the necessary paperwork - you could be asked to carrying out works to reinstate.
  14. Moist cakes like banana cake, gingerbread and lemon drizzle cake freeze well.

  17. I know a few people that have housed live out au pairs- where a family effectively needs an au pair but does not have room, they reach an agreement with a friend that lives very close by. The employer pays the friend rent ( say ?150 a week) in return for a room and bills. The au pair sleeps and spends weekends in her own pad but spends the rest of the time in the family house. This includes eating there.
  18. They re-branded the job section to "timewise" at least a year ago. Jobs for either sex.
  19. http://www.lease-advice.org.uk/calculator/ This is the correct link, sorry the one on my preious post was incorrect
  20. The main thing is 80 years. Less than that and the value decreases at a greater amount. This is because if you have over 80 years you can extend a lease relatively cheaplt. However you must have owned the lease 2 years. So practically it is 80-83 years as you are relying on the vendor to serve notice etc. Try the www. Lease.org website for more info.
  21. Yet again I have had great customer service form Aqualisa on the phone. The staff are well trained and help identify what is wrong and send you the spare part first class for ?1 postage.
