  1. what was the course???
  2. I don't think that's strictly true Uncle Glen. Students and mums whose partners work have always done this type of work too.
  3. I agree but it is important to record milestones. esp if there are problems later on, like autism, AS/ADHD/deafness etc etc
  4. perhaps you could set out exactly what 100% as opposed to 120%? Can you bench mark it somehow? can you compare it with a competitors product/ service- can they try being a customer of another competitor and see what 100% IS?
  5. What exactly is the purpose of the trip?
  6. It does say up to 18 months. Sometimes public authorities can only deal with long time frames. eg My fathers blue badge was going to take up to 40 days to process- and came 6 days later. Just sayin....
  7. Alan, don't be so coy, just open the letter up and tell the source they have the wrong address!!
  8. Tricky one- I would ask your inlaws first- if she can come and help out? if for example you can delegate her to do 2 families ironing etc etc then that is not a holiday I think you have to pay her but I think you should just be open with her- once you have squared up with your in laws, you should be able to have an open conversation with her- maybe now is a good time to talk about your future holiday plans so she can plan in advance. What has she been doing for the past 6 months in the uk?maybe she has some mates from then? Maybe she would prefer to stay in your house and take it as holiday, or maybe this is the time to ask her if she wants to do things like clean out all your cupboards etc etc. If you are taking it out of your holidays , and you have the same days as her, then you will have to be careful you don't run out of holidays your self. Good luck
  9. it probably says in their lease that they must carpet all the floors and then you can insist the landlord reinforces this part of the lease?
  10. How about something consumable for you and then a charity gift for the Philippines?
  11. I buy man of dulwich a bicycle for a midwife in Vietnam/India/Africa every year- he is happy with that. Then I might buy him a small item like cycling socks which cost as much as half a charity bicycle........
  12. David A Thanks for sharing that :)
  13. I recommend the no drink Mon- Thurs rule- unless you are going out or have guests- although offering people a glass of wine at 4pm caused a few raised eyebrows...........
  14. I think a golf is a lovely car. A lot depends on how long your legs are- I would try both a golf and an audi A3 see which feels more comfortable.
  15. avoid as much of the M25 as you can- I would go in to town and then out- kind of!
  16. http://www.stbarnabasdulwich.org/index.htm I am not sure but usually you walk from church to the Memorial at some point in the service.
  17. i don't think nannies can look after 4 children safely for any more than short periods of time unless they are all at least year 4 ( personally).
  18. Absolutely agree. Give them a chance and commend them for starting up.Jobs being created, a building being refurbished and a new place to eat/drink.All commendable.
  19. I agree, there comes a time when its all too much. I can still listen to Robert Elms on Radio London, but Maxwell Hutchison ,his sidekick, is doing my head in now too. Can anyone offer anything else?
  20. I see this is coming to London again at Christmas/New year.I wondered did anyone go last year? would you recommend for teenagers or is it too childish? Thanks
  21. There reaches a point when some people can't take it anymore-if you don't have a family I would try and stay somewhere close to where you want to live for a week or two and see how the commuting gets to you. Seriously consider if you want to run a fleet of cars / taxi service if you have children/ teenagers.
  22. Try the boxing club in Thornton heath- there are some very fit looking builders there. In fact any boxing club.
  23. but each individual flat must have building insurance, which should cover this. it will be a condition of your mortgage, however if you dont have a mortgage then you may not have building insurance- but thats pretty unusual.
  24. but the owner of your flat may still have insurance for the flat itself- especially if they have a mortgage on it. it is their investment and they need to protect it. if its leaking they will not get tenants- check what your tenancy agreement says too. but go to the owner of your flat directly if you can. they will be more concerned to protect their investment.
