  1. cant you do what a lot of women do, which is let your partner, child and mil have a bonding weekend while you go away for the weekend? cathc up with girlfriends/ spa weekend?
  2. cant you go on an open day or at least arrange to go by yourselves and meet head of the sixth form? most schools have open days for 6th forms.
  3. at the end of the day you have to live below these people- you will soon have a baby and a toddler to look after. You do not need to "up the anti " with your neighbours. You will feel quite vulnerable with 2 to look after. Why dont you just get the hook done and put the bike up? -but no point doing this if the boy wont be able to get it down himself. Can't you just have a word with the boy yourselves? Having 3 teenagers is pretty trying to parents-sometimes teenagers respond better to other adults than they do to their own parents.
  4. Jerry Hall.
  5. why dont you say you have a freind who is looking for a bike " just like that " and ask them to sell it to you , for your friend. -i dont expect they can be bothered to replace it? then sell bike on?
  6. I think it is def best not to know- it just makes us more judgemental of people and brings all our prejudices out -or so my wife says ;).
  7. I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about Dave Creasy, the salt of the earth. Anyone that started cycling at the velodrome in the past 50 years Will remember him and everything he did to promote cycling. http://www.vcl.org.uk/dave-creasy-1931-2010/
  8. I thought the climax was going to rock the very heart of Ambridge- I was all for David and Nigel falling off !
  9. 3 men in my house all use the nivea for men roll on, on offer at sainsburys half price- bargain.
  10. facebook has always been banned at every company I have worked for . DO you mean you are using facebook on your work pc?
  11. it is no longer on topic and just nasty and embarassing (IMO). STill,Cristmas is a stressful time for some. ::o
  12. Cau you just pull the thread Sean? its like that episode of the Apprentice...........
  13. Maybe this dilemma has been a good thing for your relationship. Sometimes a marraige needs some tlc after the trauma of becoming parents. Hope you have a fabulous night away, it is something that many of us could not bring ourselves to do, and yet when I look back now I think how ridiculous it was not to accept the offer of help and take 24 hours off.
  14. if you dont fancy tapestry or knitting ,start whittling some wood with a penknofe while you watch tv- but be careful!or chew gum.
  15. If you can afford it i used to have manicure once a week with the same person- and used marvela nail biting stuff in between, it was a bit like weight watchers showing her my nails every week. but after 30 years of biting my nails are/ were very weak. as soon as i stopped going- which was at the same time as having babies- i started biting them again.
  16. I think you are doing very well- i thnk anything before 3years for a boy is good- and then when it is warm outside!!!But if he is doing so wellI would try and keep to trackie bottoms that are easy to take off. CAn you use those type of trainer pants when you go out? If he has maanged ok for 4 days on his naps then I would make sure I had a waterproof protector on the mattress andcross fingers. I dont htink there is a set time for potty training, some are much quicker than others and your little boy seems ot be doing really well. Some take a few weeks and some struggle on for months, even have night time trainer pants at age 4-5.
  17. I think it all depends on what you get yourself. If you get a big ( or infact any) bonus at Christmas then it is natural to tip your nanny and cleaner etc. However if you just get a bottle of hand cream from your boss, and have to pay for your own work christmas meal, then I dont think it is imcumbant on you. I always bought nannies something and gave them maybe half a days extra wages. BUt more importantly the children made them something. Nannies are part of your life and they usually know what your circumstances are.
  18. zeban, that was my point.I never say fine .
  19. Oh Dickensman I think you are being unfair to those with very young children. It does not get harder it just changes, and if you get a decent amount of sleep over a week it makes a huge difference to how you and your partner/family are. If you are getting less than 6 hours sleep in a 24 hour period then communication and what is reasonable are very hard to judge. When challenged, woman often say everything is "FINE" anyway - but hopefully most men know that this reply means anything but;-)
  20. is there a womans refuge any where near you?
  21. I bought from florists too , it already comes in squares which is handy, but it is quite expensive.
  22. no 21,didn't we tell you we were vegetarian now?
  23. You still have not revealed your age F the G. Come on, tell all.
  24. whats wrong with orange juice as a starter - with champagne in- plus 2 things from your selection box/quality street tin? always works here.
  25. only 6 of you ? I know a manager that says she is going to fung shui ( sorry about spelling) the office every say 6 months and moves everyone around. I think you should have a word with your manager about that and make sure everyone moves.
