Bordeaux. Split between a few nights each in Bordeaux city, Dordogne and St Emilion. Really nice.

Had a late bet on Ernie at 2.4 as Scott went long in 17. It was a loss overall but only small compared to what it would have been. Despite feeling that I did not want to see Scott win in a procession, I really felt for him in the end. Tragic failure for such a nice guy.

Have added Gmac to try to save me today. I also have bill haas from the start so with Zach, Kucher, Haas, half of my original bets have performed quite well. I don't think any of them will win though.

The property section of the Sunday Times today has an article about the merits of moving north. Features a couple who used to own a small house in east dulwich and made the move north for more space. Seems to have worked out well for them.

Zach has started well.... I backed him at 100/1. Where's that smiley face. :)

Yes - watched it, interesting that the dope investigator kept the samples from 1988, and on rechecking them with modern methods, found performance enhancers were rife at those 1988 games. As one athlete put it, it was "cheat or get beat".

Rory, Zach, Rob Rock, Chad, Louis.

Is it really a troll thread? I was just on my way down there but have now turned back. Darn.

It felt like Friday today as the sun came out. Gave me the Friday feeling. Will be surprised to wakeup and find its Wednesday tomorrow.

1988 ... 100 metres men's final. For me it's the greatest athletic event ever for sheer raw excitement. Do I care if some of the participants were subsequently found to be on drugs. I'm not sure I do care. It does not reduce the excitement I felt at the time. The greatest 10 seconds in sport, ever.

Thinking about only betting on golf eh.... Another nice US PGA win on Zach tonight. Quids told me to hedge of course. Roll on the Open.

If you want to discuss something start your own thread. Simples.

RANGERS STATEMENT ON CLUB WEBSITE "Rangers' future remains uncertain after the Scottish Football League clubs voted against the Light Blues playing in the First Division next season. "It is now understood that on the back of a briefing SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster and SFA counterpart Stewart Regan gave to clubs last week that the SPL will introduce a plan for SPL 2 - which would include Rangers - and invite existing Division One members to join."

From BBC website: SFL VOTE TO PUT RANGERS INTO DIVISION THREE SFL clubs vote in favour of newco Rangers playing in Division Three That should be 4 in a row for Celtic by the time Rangers are back in the SPL. Just 6 more to go after that for the big 10 ! Where's that smiley face ? :) Actually tbh - I don't anticipate much fun for the 3 years Rangers are out of the SPL as I love the Old Firm games. Will be of general interest to watch their progress through the divisions. Humbling.

Interestingly, noone has commented on how they think this may turn out. The Jewish lobby group possibly being the most powerful in the world, I suspect that they will have their way?

In fact - you could say they are not looking at any faith at all, just a procedure, that is against human rights, performed for whatever reason, by whomever.

"European Jewish leaders furiously condemned a German court's ruling outlawing circumcision as the "worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust" yesterday and demanded that Chancellor Angela Merkel's government intervene to protect the practice as a religious rite..." Personally, I agree with the court, in that while religion can be chosen for you initially by your parents, it should be your own choice if you wish to have a small part of your body removed. That choice cannot be made by a baby. If the decision is upheld, the Jewish religion should adapt accordingly. Its not the role of society to uphold religious traditions, where they impact on human rights. The court must decide objectively , and it has done so. I hope the decision is upheld. Its ironic that its Germany that has taken this step - But comparing the decision to the Holocaust is just stirring up trouble. However - I suspect we will see the power of the Jewish religion worldwide, winning through.

?I?ll play for Rangers next season,? Gazza told The Sun. ?I will be there next season supporting Coisty and his team. ?And I?ll you this ? if I can get my hip sorted I?ll make myself available for a few games in the Third Division if Coisty needs me. There is no better time to play for Rangers than right now.? The Geordie added: ?I can honestly say that if I had just played in a tournament like the European Championship finals and I had the chance to sign for Real Madrid, Barcelona or Rangers I would choose Rangers because of Coisty and the fans. ?I had the best time of my life at Rangers. I lived next door to Coisty for four years and I know he is Rangers through and through. ?It wouldn?t matter if the club was in the Sunday league, he would still manage them for nothing. I am convinced he will make the club great again.? McCoist voiced his frustrations of working with just six experienced players last week during a meeting with a group of supporters

We are all missing the point here when comparing eras. Subconsciously, it's actually Dan Maskell that we all miss. :)

Players winning on all surfaces has become easier as the surfaces have come closer together (slower grass and faster clay) and not because these players are a golden age. I have this from a tennis "expert" at work - I really don't know how you get faster clay....

I think its a pretty poor excuse that he's up against 3 world class players... Would he have fared any better in the era of Borg, McEnroe and Connors ? He just needs to get better. And he is getting better. He is young ish and likely to be around a bit longer than Federer/Nadal but it would be even better if he could step up to their level. edited with help from boab
