  6. BBW - I found out only recently that kids were allowed out of the school grounds in lunchtime to do pretty much whatever they want - if you let them out halfway through the day its not surprising some of them prefer not to come back. Lock them in from 9am tp 3pm I think.
  7. My Dad taught at my school PGC - no can do for me I'm afraid or I'd have been toast.
  8. In the old days (pre marriage and kids) I used to spend many a Saturday afternoon playing pool with mates in dodgy pubs, waiting for the evening to arrive before going pub/clubbing, the Castle would be perfect for that. Think the only other pool table in ED is the Gowlett and as its at the other end of ED so you make your choice. Castle's new TVs should be great for sport though. Its good to see an improvement. The people who go there won't change and to expect them to change would be unfair, where else would they go, builders have been hunted out of every other pub in ED so thankfully this pub has changed only in the decor.
  9. No its 3 consecutive posts, then me, then you. Do whatever you want, noone minds - especially since its quiet on the forum tonight - the more posts the better. Type away....
  10. Jeez - 3 consecutive posts on your own thread newbie - that's keen. Welcome.
  11. Just heard on Radio5 that to deal with truancy, Glenfield Infants school in Southampton, is offering parents a free curry voucher in return for their children attending school. Is this not a school that is rewarding parents for purely meeting their legal obligation. This is surely bad parenting being rewarded by poor logic from poor schools. Management of children seems to go from bad to worse. When I was at school, our school had big walls round the outside and you had zero chance of either getting out or being allowed out during the school day.
  12. youngnewbie_newbie88 Only seven posts and after 3 posts you are already *intrigued* *ponders*
  13. if celtic beat dynamo moscow they might play lyon or arsenal in the "play off" for the champions league group stages. Celtic will no doubt be favourites as we have that little star on our shirts that reflects previous winners. Bring on the wenger boys they wont have seen an atmosphere like paradise before.
  14. i read goose1 comment as meaning the driver could say the wrong thing and provoke a maudsley patient into a reaction to which angry nigel may come off worse. I think goose should not have mentioned the maudsley but i think we know what she meant being that some day nigel will over step the mark with the wrong person. And would people stop saying he is only doing his job, its not what he does its the rude way in which he does it.
  15. Does anyone know what happens at Barry House, the church building at top of Barry Road. I pass it every morning and there are groups of people and coaches/mini buses waiting to take them somewhere? I've always wondered what they are doing - anyone know?
  16. Went in there last night with a friend as a stop off on the way down to LL. Its been tidied up on the inside, all clean tidy and wooden ploors and has new 50 inch flat screen tvs for sport. Seems fine. Good place to watch sport and play a game of pool I guess. Only a few "local" types in there though. Not a bad pub to have a quick pint in if going on elsewhere.
  17. No - leave Saturday - currently preparing myself for 2 weeks with the kids. The second week is camping, so def no internet access that week. Might bet on Tartan Bearer before I go though, King George is one of my fav races. Was there a few years ago when Gallileo and Mick Kinane beat Fantastic Light and Frankie Detorri in a great race. Got a print of it for my 40th birthday. Also had a decent win on Swain many moons ago, which was when I had very little money so its been a good race for me.

  19. You know I didn't mean you Quids.
