  1. Amazing book, makes you want to go out and do your bit to change the world! Sorry random posting but had to share... Anyone who runs a book club, pls recommend this for people to read. Very pertinent in today's society, esp with the Paris atrocities. This book is about one American man who has organised the funding and building of many schools for the rural poor in various parts of Asia, inc Baltistan and Afghanistan, and tells his story about his strong belief that the way you combat terrorism is through education, particularly education of girls. Thought provoking read. I've already bought a few copies to give to friends...
  2. Little Clipper or Mems barber near Dulwich library, both have car seats and music / TV
  3. I just moved my 19 month old for various reasons and he's settling after just a few weeks... If they're not settling there is a reason usually. When mine was 9-10 months he went to a childminder. He never settled so I moved him to a nursery after just 2 months. He was settled within a few days. Every child is different. Follow your instincts and move your child, I'm sure you won't regret it x

Definitely look into the free Childcare for 2 yr old and also claim Childcare vouchers for after school care x
  5. Sleep, bubble baths, drink loads of water, if really problematic try 'proactiv' but make sure you end the subscription after first purchase... My skin was terrible too but has now eased up, aside from dark circles ! Maybe one day I'll sleep again :)
  6. You'll find various threads on nurseries. My personal favourites are the baby room at Bright Horizons, Mother Goose on Upland road and Little Jungle near Goose Green. Put name down after you've been around to visit and get a feel. Don't panic, after baby is born is fine!!
  7. I was reading about English Heritage events the other day, think we might try somewhere further afield

  14. Walking Stories at Brockwell Park Between 22 and 24 October A unique experience where the participants create the performance by following a simple set of instructions relayed to them via headsets. It is suitable for all fitness levels and for children aged 7 years and upwards. Sounds fun! http://danceumbrella.co.uk/event.php?ref=walking-stories#.VfAnoxFVikp
  15. Hi - we have been offered a place for our youngest (18 months) and I wondered if anyone had any recent thoughts if they have a child there? I know there are lots of reviews generally but I saw the nursery around January and it was losing a couple of staff I found very professional and friendly, so would like an up to date viewpoint. Planning on visiting before making a decision but wary as already moved my baby once this year, tho I did like it very much on my first visit. Advice appreciated! Thanks
