  1. Malumbu - back in the day, we used to go straight into our friends homes it was a good thing and we were always made to feel welcome or plonk ourselves down and say who wants a cuppa and there was lots of laughter. On facebook and twitter nowadays who's to know if you were dead or not.
  2. ha ha ha , I read the subject as "black olives matter" ha ha ha , I really must get a new pair of glasses. well black olives do matter.
  3. Sorry to read this about George. It's very sad. RIP East Dulwich Taverns four legged friend.
  4. alright, you've hit 2 out of three.
  5. I'm sure they all have air conditioning in Australia, and any other hot country, wealthy enough to have air conditioning. I may be wrong though.
  6. FJD Goose, as for "This Heat" it is probably a lot of fun for the band playing that music, they might think they are great, as for listening to it, it's just a lot of head banging noise, couldn't hear what they were singin' ??? I could only stand 30 seconds. Probably targeted at a younger audience. Lovely day today :-) lav27
  7. Huummm not my kind of music.
  8. I know we shouldn't complain, but does anyone else find this heat unbearable, difficult to keep your home cool, and to sleep at night, with fans on and windows open. I would love to lay in a heap of snow right now. Roll on the winter.
  9. When I am waiting around waiting for someone and they turn up not just 5 or 10 mins late but 45 mins late, and not bothering to phone or text to say they are running late. Then they proceed to tell me a cock and bull story. It doesn't make for a good evening.
  10. Glad the Seacow closed down, I found their chips indigestible. Yuk
  11. my mother had Alzheimers in her latter years, but she still kept her sense of humour. I needed to know more about this condition so I borrowed a book from the library, I forgot to take it back on the due date, so I renewed it, (as i found it interesting) getting a funny look from the librarian as she handed it back to me, and the second due date came and went and i hadn't finished with it, so renewed it again, when I remembered about 2 week later, getting an even funnier look from the librarian, I think you can only renew a book about 5 times and then they want it back, on the 5th occasion I'd forgotten where I'd put it, and I totted up a load of fines. PAID! edit: you are allowed to roll around laughing at this, I don't mind, I love the sound of genuine laughter. I laugh at myself occasionally. I felt this was a funny story to tell you. I hope it hasn't upset anyone.

  14. Elphinstone's army - I'm frightened of "huge or monstrous creatures". We better all take cover,
  15. i sat there in the passenger seat for a while, wondering who was supposed to be driving and then realised it was me.
  16. when people spit in the street. Makes my blood boil. (especially when they do it in front of you)
  17. If you want the best fish and chips in London go straight to Master Superfish on Waterloo Road, they fry their fish in ground nut oil and they are out of this world, true heaven, and you get free prawns and french bread while you wait for it to be freshly cooked. Great to go there before going into town for Theatre etc (lovely seating area)
  18. At least M & S staff are trained well in friendliness and customer services, to a high standard. As for the co-op - staff are not friendly no interaction with customers, its just pay and get out. I was at the till having waited an age to be served in a very long queue and only two till open, wasn't offered a bag, had to ask, after cashier had scanned half my items and wasn't bothered whether I had my own bag or not, paid for my items and then she threw the till receipt at me with a grunt. Whilst I was in the shop was told by someone packing shelves that I was in the way. rude rude rude. F them I've never been back to that shop, they can rot in somewhere not very nice.
  19. dirac, forgot to mention that "Two Brothers" deliver, but you have probably got your fish and chips by now.
  20. you're welcome
  21. Two Brothers opposite the closed down Harvester/Grove tavern pub on Lordship lane, bit of a trek for you but well worth the journey. The fish and chips are superb. 197 bus or P13
  22. Getting in the passenger seat of my car, after shopping (was on my own) and thinking i should be in the drivers seat.
  23. Gone to work on my day off.
