  1. Son no 1 is H fitting. Peruse the Clarks website, order in up to 6 pairs to try, try them on at Bromley or lewisham, only pay for the pair you keep
  2. cff9, at this point the 31 names above you on the waiting list are fanilies who love closer than you who had it as a prefrred option above any offer they have been made. Many of thes efamilies WILL take up the 2nd, 3rd choice that they have been offered. A new waiting list is drdawn up after 1st sept for those children that haven't started elsewhere or have started and don't want to move. You can find out how close the admitted pupils live this year and last, to give you an idea of your eventual chances
  3. Hatfield forest but prob a bit far
  4. ?5 family pass, ?15 annual pass IIRC
  5. Plaster of Paris eggs could be painted and kept Sure you can get egg moulds Or make Easter marzipan eggs and chicks with food colouring Would be a nice tradition also could do similar for Xmas stocking and tree

  7. I have had independent midwves for all of my births, which all took place in hospital for various reasons. Although IMWs can no longer act as your MW in hospital, they are invaluable for antenatal care at home, coming with you to any hospital appts, scans, visiting you before and after the birth if you are in inpatient, attending you at home for a month after the birth to help with breastfeeding etc. My MWs helped me manage my hospital phobia, mailing and meeting with consultan MWs, manager of the labour and postnatal wards to agree a plan for me for my twin birth and in case of admission with my recent birth. They supported me through very difficult breastfeedimg/tongue tie this time round, spending hours with me, and not signing me off till 6w after the birth. They even visited me in hospital when twin II was hospitalised with a kidney infection at 10mold and came to the twins naming ceremony. We still keep in touch (one of them is popping by for coffee on Friday in fact) To help you through the medical maze, fight your corner and be on the alert for any potential problems in hospital, they are a huge reassurance. http://www.independentmidwives-southeast.co.uk/whoweare.html http://www.independentmidwives-southeast.co.uk/

  11. Also, if your child isn't 5 until later in the year you potentially have a bit of time to play with. Although places are offered now from the Sept BEFORE your child is 5, stat school age is from the beginning of the term AFTER your child is 5 so if you have been offered totally unpalatable schools one option is to wait it out and hope a place arises in time .. although your child would be a latecomer to the class (possibly better than starting a school then transferring though)
  12. ClaireClaire Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > should I go on waiting list for Heber and enter a > period of limbo, or should I just go with > Goodrich...? I think until the Summer, you are automatically on the waiting list for any schools further up your list. From the Autumn term all waiting lists are cleared and you have to reapply if you want to stay on a school's waiting list.

You won't have priority I'm afraid, but will be on the list according to the admissions criteria (ie distance, usually) It might be possible to add your name to the waiting lists of schools you didn't apply for originally If you don't get to the top of the wating list, the LA will allocate you the closest school they can, as soon as they can
  14. No school can operate an LA only admission policy, it was ruled illegal a few years ago
  15. I think assuming you live between the two you are lucky to get goodrich rather than much further away. I have several friends who have children at the lower end of goodrich and are quite happy You cAn accept it and also go on Heber waiting list I think
  16. Scamps though is not cheap
  17. please let us know how it turns out
  18. peckham pulse is good for 4-6
  19. Just had our twins party today at Surrey docks farm Inc donkey rides Was great
  20. While that's a nice idea there are many practical issues. For eg science would normally be timetabled at the same time for the whole year group to allow setting yet there will be 5 classrooms at each site - children would nerd to travel during the day between sites which is time consuming disruptive and potentially dangerous Pe facilities have probably been designed with single gender chAnging facilities As have toilets
  21. My SIL found an egg in a flower bed and also wants to know!
  22. Westof I think the situation would be simpler if places were allocated on distance .., Harris kingsdale etc do not do that hence taking pupils from far afield
  23. Usually no, the school offered isn't a factor in an appeal and it doesn't go down well to slag off another school at the appeal But in this case regarding sen the family are specifically asked to explain why attending another school would present difficulties and if that school does lack facilities kingsdale has there is a case there I would be realistic though as unless you have new evidence to present the chances of success are very slim You can ask for info regarding now admitted under each heading
  24. Well having been offered a specific other school now at least you can focus on why attending that school would present difficulties Good luck Remember not to talk down the offer you have, so your son feels ok if that's where he ends up
