We have loads. Just they fill the garden. I have noticed some flats with large blue paper bins. It woud be great if we could have one like that to share with the upstairs flat and a similar one for glass and plastic etc..
  3. Is it possible to get big bins for recycling? We fill several of those little crates etc and they look very messy in our garden
  4. i would be more convinced if i hadn't written a very similar letter in 2007 about queues and unresposive staff at Peckham, while pregnant wth our twins...
  5. Especially since the money to set these up is coming from state schools, there is no requirement on those establishing free schools o demonstrate there is a need for places, and in freezing school building programmes the govt has ceased to fund the expansion in school places that was required in many areas. Money is being diverted from where it was needed to meet a need due to a shortage, to establish free schools elsewhere... purely political.

Apparently not, which is a real shame :-( I have asked James Barber what the reasoning was behind this...

  8. if you're renting, i'd stay in ed for now.. but have you thought about school start dates etc for no 1? either move before the application date... jan after they're 4... or get into an ed school and transport her and no 2, in due course
  9. We are staying where we are despite another new arrival due... we really need 2 more bedrooms! But loth to leave friends/ED/creche/school etc just yet...

Now you apply for 6 in total, single application
  11. i was going to say avoid the herne screwed up my sil's 60th birthday then were rude into the bargain
  12. Southwark should be able to give you the stats re pupils admitted under each criteria and distance.. you can also check if choosing DVI (not a community school) as first choice would mean choosing Heber, say as second, you suffered in the Heber admissions process (closest comm school) because it was second choice. Goodrich is bigger than Heber, (though Heber had a bulge this year) so it's worth looking at the facts and figures... If you get the stats, do share!

In the past he probbaly would have had to wait till the January when some nursery chilren moved to reception, but with one point of entry from next year, it may change... could be sept 2011 or sept 2012!

Afraid it doesn't work like that.If you don't put your closest school as first, and then don't get in to your first choice, because it's not your closest school, you could end up miles away
  15. MM: Try fruit like grapes, chopped mango? Mine likes fruit but I still think a nice little poit of something easy to eat is nice when he wants to hurry out to play
  16. I know they have it because they responded to a lit of suggestions I gave them for aquisitions a while ago and this was one of the books!
  17. Is in stock at Dulwich Library http://prism.talis.com/southwark/items/747965?query=marie+mongan&resultsUri=items%3Fquery%3Dmarie%2Bmongan
  18. Yes, DDTC is great (meets every other Tues) plus there is one in Forest Hill (some overlap of people) every Friday. And DDTC has a meet up in P Rye park too...

We swim at dulwich college and it's comfortable, not as people are describing the new dulwich pool James, can you find out what discussion there was, prior to deciding not to have a softplay? i am sure i am not the only one who requested one in the consultation. bit of an opportunity missed there.
  20. Apply to Goodrich if you're closest. There are more spaces for reception anyway than in nursery. You are likely to have most chance with your closest community school, I don't think Heber admits anyone who falls into the category below (straigh distance) You can ask Southwark what distance they strectched to for non siblings at Goodrich this year.
  21. Not much variety her ebut he's happy with a healthy lunch Brown bread hummous sandwich often with salad Bag of salad (tomato, cucumber or pepper) Pot of nice fruit (gtrapes, raspberries etc) Yoghurt Sometimes a biscuit Also takes a satsuma and an apple for playtime... Nice to feel he has had 4/5 of his fruit and veg! (But he likes fruit and veg, it's variety of saindwich fillings he won't do)
  22. gwod Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think that actually measured by shortest "safe > walking route" Not any more
  23. No but I have 2 year old twins! Congratulations and happy to meet up if you like.. having a new baby (just one) end of Nov
  24. I am very much a go with the flow type but noticed my twins fell naturally into a pattern of a 1h sleep 2h or so after waking, and another 1h or so mid pm... that was at about 7m IIRC. It seems to be a natural thing....no idea if you can hurry it up!!
