  1. It's always been by far the best place to take children - toys and nice pasta with meatballs and icecream in dishes or cones. Looks like it will turn into another ED clone. Sad :-(
  2. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,529843,529924#msg-529924 The only place I dare take my twins on my own to have lunch :-(
  3. For baby bo 1 I didn't and ended up with awful backache needing phsyio, feeding on the sofa Bought a second hand one for the twins and it was fantastic, coudln't bear to part with it Brilliant for rocking a child to sleep, and great for your back
  4. oops will empty box a bit
  5. Posters on noticeboards in library/cafe ... cards in the cafe in D Pk...
  6. Se22 mags don't come through my door. I don't bother reading them any more as the articles irritate me beyond belief.. all smug cookery etc. They don't have particularly complete listings. I only pick up stuff to see what's on, really and the EDF is a better source for that than any mag, TBH
  7. Families is worth a read. Rest are pretty rubbish. There was some other glossy expensive looking small mag did the rounds whoe a while that was absolutely full of typos...

From what I've seen they seem to do 30 mins before and after.. so, yes. I assumed an hour for setup/take down and 2.5h for the session itself. It's only a very rough sum of course... I am just trying to show that the STAFFING for one morning session is a small amount, compared with the high running costs of ?100k pa which presumably include rates, insurance, electricity and all sorts that wouldn't increase, or only marginally, with increased use.

THis one... 9ph plus oncosts 23% x 3.5h x 48 weeks - #1859.76 Why, what do you think it would cost? Even if the staff are on quite a high grade, the hourly rate won't exceed 14ph I wouldn't have thought... 3.5h per week for 48 weeks at #14 p/h comes to 2892.96. Certainly, the cost of one staff member for one morning p/w is in the low thousands, that's for sure. I do work in local govt finance, btw (education) so I am used to costing out such budgets! So less of the patronising please.

I am sure it could run with one staff member to open up etc and playgroups run by parents could use the space. My estimate of the cost of a staff member for one morning per week is less than ?2k pa.
  11. I am thinking of going to this next Thursday 2-3 (Soup Dragon) http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,527830 after lunch at Jacks (see my other posting about trying to cut out our long-adored lunchtime nap!) If anyone else doesn't do the nap thing, want to get together?
  12. I am thinking of hauling my pair to the P Rye cafe for lunch next Friday (1-1.45ish) followed by an hour or two in the one o'c club though have to leave at 3ish for the school run. Anyone fancy meeting up? I am trying to knovk the lunchtime nap on the head or limit it to 30 mins in the car/buggy as bedtimes have started to slip when they have 2h.. so I need to get to know some people who don't have naps!!
  13. I think even if they don't offer they will probably listen in if you request it.
  14. The food at fox on the hill is ok. If you are eating out with toddlers having a slide etc counts for a lot. 1/3 the price of the Herne anyway!
  15. Anyone fancy meeting there next weds?
  16. I like them. The Fox on the Hill has a nice play area and very good value esp if you get one of the offers. They also do great breakfasts.
  17. It might cost #100k to run it pa, but if much of that is things like electricity, rates etc then the cost of providing, say, one staff member for a couple of mornings wouldn't be excessive. #9 p/h plus oncosts x 3.5h x 50 weeks = 1937 I'm sure if it was opened parents would step in and run some groups...
  18. Travelodge sale starts today and prices go down to ?9 though over the actual Xmas break at the closest Travelodge (Southwark) it's currently listed at ?12.50+ The cheap beds sell out very quickly, be warned
  19. I like Little Rascals at Bellingham for 2 year olds.... has nice sized area for small kids, not too overwhelming
  20. I'd guess it is just a phase, possibly linked to teething. At <1y the solids are more for taste/practice than nutrition, so try not to worry. The more you fuss the more he will decide it's a good game. I'd try to avoid serving up one delicacy after another trying to find his "favourite" as he's totally fickle anyway. Serve up balanced but easy to cook meals, then try to pay little attention to what he eats or not (and don't then top him up with sweet puds) The night waking is more to do with brain development than hunger. Try to relax and ride it out. How you respond to this will set the pattern for future years... try to see your role as providing a balanced and healthy diet.. his job is to eat (or not!) and that bit is out of your hands.

  22. what does he eat? Lots of milk? breast or formula? Are you sure he throws ALL the finger food on the floor?
  23. Oops, sorry will make some space!!
  24. That sounds like fun, I'd be up for trying it one Weds...
  25. Should include swimming at Peckham, Beck Spa and the Brudge leisure centres...
