getting your boobs back to normal - how long does it take?

I'd express a little, taKE nurofen if necessary.. be very careful you don't get mastitis, it can be awful. -

Nursing in public; weirdest place?

I'm afraid I am in the midst of a complaint against the midwives at DMC for mucking up my booking in (finally managed it at 17.5 weeks this week when the head midwife from Kings came to see me) http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,477482,478283#msg-478283 I hope you have more luck than me. You might find that as you missed their call they have just crossed you off their list... if you have any problems I would speak to the practice manager at DMC or to Jill Demilew at Kings (Supervisor of midwives)
-
An update from me, the supervisor of midwives at Kings has been to see me at home and I am now booked in with Kings (at 17.5w pregnant!) But I am going to have my birth with independent midwives, having totally lost confidence in the Lanes. My formal complaint to the PCT will take up to 28 working days to process.

Some mixed sex schools will teach girls and boys separately for some subjects. I think I'd probably choose a girls school for a daughter and mixed for a son (hence many "mixed" schools are boy heavy in areas where there are also girls schools.) But I went to mixed school myself. IME girls schools have a very particular atmosphere and ethos that many find attractive...

Nursing in public; weirdest place?

Oh I don't know, doing bottles for 2 is hard work too I think! Keeping up with two (or three, imagine!) makes you feel like a mummy bird with a nestful of hungry beaks ... all the more so now they sit in their high chairs and shout "More! More!" -

Just imagine if you sometimes felt obliged to feed two (toddlers) at once. That IS a bit of a spectacle!!! -
Breech birth - would you be up for it?

I think the nature of this discussion is very affected by people's personal experiences... those who have had a difficult birth where retrospectively they would have preferred a C section vs those who have had a natural birth or intervention they feel was unwarranted... then you add in the experiences of friends and friends of friends.. and everyone's acceptance of "risk" is different anyway! Amongst twin mums I know, quite a few have delivered a breech twin II naturally without any problems. Good luck with your decision! What advice have you been given? Have you seen a consultant? x -

In a small boat, wearing my scuba drysuit, with the top peeled down together with the undersuit, in harbour between dives... my sister passed baby no 1 in to me for a quick feed, then the boat headed back out to sea again... -

Advice needed - after school childcare
Fuschia replied to emsiemcb's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Or maybe you could work 4 short days rather than 3 long, and put child no 2 in nursery for 4 days (still leaves holidays to worry about though) -
Advice needed - after school childcare
Fuschia replied to emsiemcb's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Will you need morning drop off, after school and holidays? That will be a childminder. Mine used to charge ?20 per day term times, ?35 holidays (she was at the cheaper end of the scale I think) though it can be harder to find a place for an under 5 year old as the ratio of children to adult is the same for a pre-schooler. There is a list you can get from Southwark, though it's not terribly uptodate re vacancies. There is a childcare link gov webpage that lists all minders (think OFSTED do too) as you are best to call round all those that cover St Johns, whether they list current vacancies or not (many will have vacancies coming up for Sept) Also if there is a PTA, contact them for advice... you sort of want to clue into the St Johns mummy network. Other option might be flexible working if you are a two parent family - one of you works 7-3pm and the other 10-6, that sort of thing... -
IME HFM was small red spots, cp was dewdrop spots turning red.. first a handful then within 48 hours, hundreds.. so I guess time will tell? HFM caused lots of crying/not wanting to eat CP= itching

There are lots of grannies out and about at various gatherings, I've noticed.

Yes, smoke was billowing up and fire engines just behind the police station

Practical advice wanted: how to child-proof my house??
Fuschia replied to MrsMc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Gate to stop them wandering into the kitchen and bathroom unattended, cleaning stuff locked away. Medicines up high. Socket covers, temp turned down on boiler so hot water from taps isn't scalding. Mirrors and cupboards fixed to the wall. No dangling blind cords. CDs/DVDs locked away or up high That's about it. Corner protectors are rubbish, just get pulled off. Can leave even the twins unsupervised in our living room as its fairly toddler proof
