  1. Your companies can each provide you with part of your salary (?243 pcm) as vouchers you can use to pay your nanny if she is ofsted registered. This will save you approx ?100 pcm each in tax and NI if you are higher rate tax payers
  2. Probably just a developmental stage: http://moxie.blogs.com/askmoxie/2006/04/qa_18month_slee.html
  3. Those cars have been there for a long time and I'm sure the council knows about them. Possibly it's authorised? http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200083/roads_highways_and_pavements/605/obstructions_on_roads_and_pavements/1

  5. I think HR can be a bit of a brake on individual managers who aren't aware of policies or are risking an industrial tribunal or something...

We do get foxes pooing in our (back) garden too. But this is a dog, and its owner must walk it past our gate regularly as this happens at least once a week. Fed up with our toddlers getting it on their shoes and it's not nice cleaning it up as I'm pregnant.. is it just cat poo you should avoid when pregnant?
  7. Just look down the page... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,480309
  8. Mexican Mike has been deleted. I guess the previous poster might have been banned and Mexican Mike was an attempt to get round it? Interesting what you say, mothernature. Maube it was one over zealous receptionist.. or maybe Mexican Mike or whoever he was, was just rude to them!
  9. Peckham Rye and Peckham are rather different places.
  10. I posted quite a gew times to the other thread saying that in recent years I had always found the reception staff to be incredibly helpful and they have allowed me to book my children in late for appointments on occasion. But I don't really feel like rehashing the debate again. Yes, a one minute late in the evening policy is draconion, if true. As originally you said you were 20 mins late, I am not sure of the truth of it. Certainly, if you were as rude in person as you were in te original thread, yoy probably wouldn't have won any friends amongst the reception staff (and by 6.50pm with no one waiting for that last appt, maybe the dr had left?)
  11. It's hard to strike the balance when they WANT to do something like this but their bodies aren't quite ready... sounds like the lifting might help at least and making bedchanging less of an issue will stop him feeling bad. You have years before he does on sleepovers probably anyway!!
  12. It is something about a hormone that they start to produce which stops them making lots of wee at night http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/bedwetting.htm
  13. A childminder works for several families, uses their own home and has various expenses to offset such as cost of the premises etc. Teachers cannot be considered self employed. I have responsibility for this whole area (in a school!) and have had several very brusing experiences recently with HMRC who are incredibly strict. There is an online tool for employers to try to determine if a role can be considered self employed: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/employment-status/index.htm http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/esi.htm

  15. A few relevant bits here I think, maybe: http://www.i-resign.com/UK/discussion/new_topic.asp?t=8946
  16. make the bed up with lots of layers inc a folded sheet/waterproof layer just acrsos the centre of the bed.. easy to whip off, no need to lift mattress
  17. You can have IV antibiotics in casualty for sure, though, as I was given them when I had mastitis when the twins were small .. they could see how aghast I was when they wanted to admit me. Being admitted with a child isn't that bad anyway, Kings kids wards are ok
  18. I don't think that's a very appropriate use of KIT days. What an awful thing to have hanging over you when you are about to go back. I do think if you could put any bad temper/forgetfulness/tiredness etc prior to your mat leave down as pregnancy related then you could argue discrimination if it affects your appraisal.. difficult though without a union on your side. What effect would a poor appraisal have on you, practically? Perfromance related pay? Or is it just the upset?
  19. If you make up the bed with a waterproof protector, fitted sheet, then a bedmat or anotehr waterproof cover, then anotehr sheet, you can whip the top tweo layers off easily and hey presto the bed is made underneath "Pyjama pants" aged 4-7 are a bit like nappies but not quite.. or try a washable trainer pant?
  20. I think all mums should be required to show evidence of actual SE22 postcode before using the EDF (Joking)
  21. IV antibiotics are given via an injection via the thing in the hand, once or twice a day, IME. If you are still struggling today maybe call the GP, see if it's possible there for the nurse to do it. It's not a drip drip drip over 24h or anything like that. Though getting the line in is a bit of a task in itself!
  22. nah, do 70% of what you're happy with and don't feel too bad about the rest
  23. Someone lets their dog regularly shit at our front gate. So our toddlers get it all over their feet as we try and leave the house in the morning. This is a regular thing. guess the dog has chosen our gateway as its preferred spot!
