  1. Mine unfortunately don't really sit and watch cbeebies consistently. I put them in their highchairs and drag breakfast no 1 out for as long as possible followed by books in their chairs then they started asking for paint.. is Ok as long as there is NO RUNNING AROUND! And the bath is very close by in our flat, luckily. Somehow, getting messy is their VERY FAVOURITE THING. Ds 1 was the same. I must say it's very peaceful until aforementiined DS1 gets up, anyway.
  2. Blech we have already done painting and the subsequently required bath.
  3. I'm feeling Ok now!! (Glad to say) though trying not to lift anything too heavy (yeah right!!)
  4. I asked when we had our emergency scan the other day... they can usually tell from 16 if they get a good view (we are 16w tomorrow) and though he wasn't 100% sure he said he thought a boy. We don't mind either way anyway.
  5. PS Mr F is sure early waking is a side effect of breastfeeding... all evidence to show him it's just a toddler thing would be much appreciated!! Neither of our boys have been really early wakers, it's just M (fron that angle might be a very good thing bump is probably another boy) Still at least it's not dark and cold this time of year.
  6. M always stirs from about 5, good days she goes back off again till 7, bad days she leaps out of bed right away. Though I seem to recall T was awake from 2-3 or something ungodly. Yawn.
  7. A mug printed with a photo and a message, bit tacky but we have quite a few of these now from different occasions, and they are nice memories Truprint etc do them Also mousemats with photos on
  8. Once I get up at the crack of dawn I can look at what all the grown up people posted on FB etc after I went to bed (need early nights atm!) but then the whole world is in the land of nod for HOURS! Well, except for the cbeebies presenters. I guess they are in bed at 7.30pm every night :-)
  9. It's not a one minute policy., it's a 10 minute policy. I don't know why they told you different. I have also had some luck getting the receptionist to sign my child in when we were 15 mins late (I think the machine at the back cuts off automatically after 10 minutes is the problem) Sorry they didn't use some judgement with you... though I think the doctors tend to go round about 7, I have had mixed success trying to get the duty doctor on the phone at about that time in an emergency.
  10. I wouldn't trust AK as a source on allergies.. I don't think she is a qualified nutritionist? I was worried v. much about allergies with son no 1 (asthma, eczema, food allergies, cows milk protein allergy and coeliac disease in the family) and delayed dairy, wheat and citrus until 9m+... used the Sainsburys "Free from"range for pasta/bread etc at first. Corn and rice pasta is easy to get these days
  11. My suggestion was that she just gives the 4w notice if she's unhappy, doesn't neceessarily need to give a reason

Yes, as that is one of the cases where unfair dismissal can be claimed without the 1 year's continuous employment. Pregnancy is another.

  17. It sounds like DMF might just like to give her 4 weeks notice, and she would be within her rights to do so, as the nanny hasn't worked for a year and gained employment protection
  18. if you have employed her for only 3 months she doesn't have employment protection except for certain types of discrimination and certain other circumstances If you are thinking of letting her go, do it before the year is up.

Distance from home to school is measured as safe walking distance from front gate of the home to the main gate of the school using the measurement supplied by the local authority derived from their computerised mapping system. ...
  20. Thanks everybody...
  21. I have made a complaint about the Lanes and a complaint about the receptionist at the EPU in a rather Victor Meldrew like fashino and just getting it off my chest has made me feel better. I have already had a swift and kind response from the Head of Community Midwifery though I doubt my confidence can be rebuilt now.
  22. Smiler, I did go into the antenatal clinic at kings at 10w on the advice of the EPU but they said they couldn't book me as Lanes would be! According to their records as the Lanes had referred me for my NT scan that meant I would be with the Lanes. Then I wait 3w and the Lanes send me a letter saying they are assuming I'm declining care. Then they ignore all my phone messages saying I am not declining care at all. I don't really see that they have any excuse. I was starting to get a bit cross even before I had the accident and needed urgent advice. My haematologist has now referred me direct to Leonie Penna (as he did last time) and I expect I will get an appt with her in due course, but TBH I didn't want to be under Kings, I wanted to be on the list of the community midwives at my own GPs, who I saw at 5 weeks and seem to have made a total hash of things. It is just ridiculous that not only have the Lanes failed to see me personally (and as far as I can see just ignore messages left on their answerphone!) but by doing the initial scan referral, that meant the Kings antenatal couldn't help me even when the EPU gave me a letter suggesting they see me in the special clinic for women with clotting issues. Madness.
  23. Belle Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It does seem really unfair when you did it all by > the book and got in touch with them v early on as > well. From memory - did you have an independent > midwife with the twins? I did, because I couldn't get in with any community midwives at all, I was 8w before I tried and everybody was full. This time I was at the Drs at 5 weeks to make sure I would be alright... but unfortunately it seems not! I really do have a sort of phobia/PTSD thing going on about hospitals and doctors and it filters through to any medical professional I have to deal with who can't seem to remember who I am and deal with me properly. I wouldn't want to book with them now. But it's not right I have to pay a lot of money, just to get proper care.
  24. I have had a call from the practice manager at DMC who has been to speak to the midwives who said they can't get back to me until the end of next week due to staff holidays! So I am going to make a formal complaint to the PCT, and will be using independent midwives. I'm not stressed now, though I am angry at their lack of professionalism. I had a lot of bleeding in our twin pregnancy, but I was getting good care (via the EPU and independent midwives/Kings antenatal) and I never had to contend with this sort of administrative incompetence and general lack of concern.
