  2. I never got on with expressing for child no 1, but managed enough for 3 days p/w for the twins up till just this last week (16m) I needed to express really to avoid exploding, mind you. It's something to think about... now looking back i wonder why i didn't give it a go for child no 1. Just a thought, it's hard to make sense of the formula ads, I'm very cynical about their marketing and the claims they make.
  3. I think there is evidence that babies need Long Chain Fatty acids, recently added to formulas (not sure if all) http://www.nutraingredients.com/Research/LCP-supplement-for-baby-milk http://journals.indexcopernicus.com/abstracted.php?icid=413485 The stuff about aptamil and immunofortis is the copmpany making up a name for something that's not proven to have any effect. http://www.nutraingredients.com/Regulation/Prebiotic-follow-on-formula-ads-censored-in-UK I'd take all claims with a pinch of salt. You can't express instead? xx (Much cheaper)
  4. Just a natural moisturiser I'd say, something like calendula? Try one of the homeopathic ointments you can get for cuts and grazes?
  5. In what ways do you think you act like your own mother did?
  6. Aww. Congratulations.

Drove me mad. He's still a high energy 6 yo (but has put all that extra awake time to good use learning things!) Without me doing anything at all, I now have twins who do nap.. the girl you can just lie down with her blanket when she's tired and off she goes.. the boy gets overtired and cries furiously till he conks out. Both sleep for about 3h during the day... So.. it might just be your child, schpan... but you can encourage napping by maybe taking a walk with the buggy at times you think she's tired... eatching particuularly for the very first sign of tiredness.. glazed look, touching eyes, crotchety. > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > I'm so jealous. 8. Mine nap from 9.30 or 10 for an hour, and a couple of hours usually 2-4 but can be as late as 4-6! I'd much prefer them to have just one nap, middle of the day! (15m mine are)
  9. The reception staff at P Pulse are appalling.. sit chatting on their mobiles and won't catch your eye.. can take 20 mins to pay and get in.. plus now all the baby swim places get prebooked by members who don't turn up..
  10. sillywoman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fuschia Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Contact the NCT re a tea group. > > . . .or not! (see NCT Dec daytime options thread) Yeah, I know.. but worth a try, nonetheless!
  11. I think people are rather over-reacting! Elimination communication is a natural form of toileting... no doubt what primitive peoples did in the days before nappies... and while it's clearly not for everybody, it's quite a valid way of dealing with baby waste products... and just because the Op explained what she was doing and asked "Would be interesting to hear different views. I know that it's much easier to leave this until the child is much older, but would be good to know if anyone would like to or did start potty training early.", I don't see why people have to jump on her as if she's started some sort of early potty training competition! I didn't read her post in that way at all. Keef even says "I truly think that some people do all this stuff, not so much for the good of their child, but so they can congratulate themselves, and show off at NCT meetings!" I think that's very harsh. Keef. Chill, guys.
  12. I got a personalised MP? made by Christine Neilands but you can buy various pregnancy relaxation CDs, or Hypnobirthing http://www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk/8.html http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hypnobirthing-Natural-Approach-Comfortable-Birthing/dp/0757302661/ref=pd_sim_b_1
  13. Contact the NCT re a tea group.

  16. I think it's possible to do things one way but still admire others who do it a different way.. i think the idea of EC is fascinating, and hats off to those who pracrice it.. it certainly saves adding to the nappy mountain! For me personally, being back at work, since 7m and having two babies... breastfeeding is the thing I made my priority. But i don't feel guilty about the stuff I don't do.. we all do our best don't we? x PS When it comes to actual potty training, I am in the "No hurry, do it when they're ready" camp. But EC for babies is a while different philosophy.. as I say.. fascinating!
  17. Being pregnant with twins was very uncomfortable. I must admit I had to have the whole super king size to myself. i also got a huge us-haped full length body pillow. What really made a big difference was hypnotherapy. I had an mp3 and cd to prepare for childbirth, and I found it so relaxing i ALWAYS DRIFTED OFF. WHEN i WAS HOSPITALISED WITH PRE-ECLAMPSIA, very uncomfortable, listening to the pain relief exercises was the only thing that calmed my aching back and neck long enough for me to catch an hour's kip. But I WAS the only pregnant woman skulking round the antenatal ward at all hours, sleeping for an hour, then hopping in the bath or shower, drying my hair, then starting the whole cycle over again with another session on the mp3 player! (Mind you, the year since has been even worse for sleep!)
  18. Elimination communication it's called, isn't it? I do know a few people who have done it, with varying degress of success depending on how much effort tbey put into it, I think. Well done! Must save a lot of expense, mess, washing or landfill!

  20. A swing! Maybe a bit old to start him in one now, but they're a godsend. But hang in there, at about 12w they do start to realise what night time is and bedtime comes forward. xx
  21. It's brilliant. Easy parking in carpark next door, lovely facilities inc tea/coffee.. quite a big room with art activities, playhouse, baby corner. Very friendly staff. The outside is big, partly shady, nice equipment .. whole place has a very peaceful air to it. Well worth the money. Open over the hols but there will be u-8s there so bit noiser than usual I suspect!
  22. In our family I do what goes in, Mr F does what comes out.. so I bf and do the weaning/cooking.. he does all nappies (plus dressing!) Works for us.
  23. Take a flask with you when you go out with the buggy! or in the car. I always do, plus odd bits of the weekend ppaers I haven't been able to read. When I get 15 mins and they're both asleep I have a cuppa and a read.. bliss.
  24. Steam sweet potato, roughly mash with a large blob of philly cheese, stir in grated cheese and flaked tinned salmon (no salt) Serve with fishfingers or sausages.. doesn't taste salmon'y at all, if you want to omega oils but not the taste
  25. pS I'm glad my twin breastfeedingexpressing solution has been the source of joy to so many. :-)
