Went in there yesterday, sat outside. It's very nicely done inside. They have lots of highchairs, twins loved watching the 3orld go by. Having scrambled egg on toast and a boiled egg and soldiers at 2.75 apiece, at teatime, was great and i'll certainly choose it over bmc!

If they sold themselves as a child friendly place to eat and offered a semi-healthy child's menu and ran some weekend promotion.. they'd do themselves much more of a favour than this sort of thing which just makes them look desperate. What's the play area like? Is it still Ok to park in trhe vicinity?

Or better, decide on your niche and offer some sort of incentive. If you wnat people in to watch footie, do a cheap beer afternoon, 2 for 1 etc. If you wnat families, promote a child friendly menu or get in a bouncy castle on a Sunday pm etc..

I did eat at the Vale one weekday afternoon with son no1 while waiting for a tyre repair. This was last Summer. The guy behind the bar was very friendly.. the place was wather empty and echoing, the food was Okish but they had no veggy choice on offer really.. we had quiche and chips there was nothing else. Is this the place with an outside space for children? My guess is it isn't marketing itself properly at any niche. It has a dj... aimed at adults out at the weekend?

Misinterpreted, you just posted in another thread as if you own or work at the Vale.. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,276768,279514#msg-279514 "Hi Viper, Thanks for the feedback, what would get you to venture down to see us more? The DJ is actually a very good one, but we are not tied to it. Anything else that you would like to see? Any feedback would be more than welcome. Thanks" Oops.

http://www.thebiglunch.com/big-idea/family "The Big Lunch was dreamed up by Tim Smit and Paul Twivy one morning at the Eden Project. Eden is all about projects, we believe in experiments that live, eat, breathe and with luck, thrive. Eden is a celebration of life. People say it puts champagne in your veins, which sounds a lot more fun than chlorophyll. Although Eden have kicked started The Big Lunch (and are working hard to grease the necessary wheels of government that will help it come together), we're resisting the temptation to own or control the day. We want to keep it organic, create a mood, a rumour. " "Organisations supporting The Big Lunch so far: Arts Council England, Arts in Regeneration, ... Local Government Association, ... Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Hazel Blears MP Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, ..."

Actually, that's sort of the going rate for a "man with a van" only usually the man does help with the lifting and shifting!

I am sad enough i noted down some registration numbers and satisfied myself they were not all the same van.. and googled to see if I could find some info about them. FWIW, there is one by Goose Green usually and one outside Dulwich Village Infants. So are they a fleet of vans all in operation.. or do only a few of them move and the rest are novel forms of advertising hording?

I seem to recall there is a sort of yard at the back. Having a cool shady green outside area would be great (a la old style Blue Mountain Cafe)

But aren't rubella, parvovirus, Chicken Pox etc, all problematic in pregnancy, viruses rather than bacteria?

As the Horniman family were originally teatraders and collectors, would be rather unlikely if the museum was focussed on Morris dancers!

There is a drawing in the surgery of their proposed expansion - to be 4 storeys with a gym in the basement and to include a pharmacy and a dentists surgery. There is also a consultation card, though the only possible responses are "I support it" or "I want to discuss it more"

Anyone else been overcharged in Somerfield?
Fuschia replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The price on display, such as the price on the actual goods, the shelf edge price, the price given in an advertisement or on a website in most cases forms part of what the law terms 'an invitation to treat'. In these circumstances, this means that the price given by the trader forms part of an invitation for the prospective buyer to make an offer to buy, which the trader is entitled to either accept or reject. The buyer cannot insist that a trader sells anything at the marked price, whether or not the trader has made a mistake. However, action can be taken against the trader for giving a misleading price indication. The law does not allow prices to be fixed and, contrary to common belief, goods are not subject to price controls... The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008...What do the Regulations say about pricing? The Regulations deal with lots of different aspects of how to trade fairly, but there are some specific requirements for pricing, and the following practices are banned: Inviting the consumer to purchase a product at a special offer price without making the consumer aware of limited stock/availability, taking into account the extent of the advertising, the price of the goods and what amount of stock is reasonable to expect, (known as bait advertising). http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/southend/con1item.cgi?file=*ADV1011-1111.txt
