  1. I've opened the door to the post man with one boob out, as well!
  2. Lambeth show this weekend

It does look most odd... if you think that's funny, imagine me getting caught at work by the caretaker while I was wearing it!! He stutters when he talks to me now! I think he thinks the pump is some kind of sex toy!!
  4. I am opposed in principle to private schools, so wouldn't send my child to one for that reason. But i think if you're concerned your daughter may not achieve her best at her current school, and you can easily afford a private school (and I guess cope with the competition to get into a private secondary school) then the fear of her becoming a bit snobbish are rather outweighed... Given the privileges a private education gives, I can't see why people who can afford it and aren't opposed in principle, end up with their children in the state sector?
  5. Bumping for people to add events that are coming up

  7. Following on from this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,303214,303290#msg-303290 Any good ideas for easy days out by train?
  8. THis one: http://cka.moon-demon.co.uk/act2009.htm Note the day on 26th July, dress as a soldier!
  9. Someone told me giving birth was like trying to shit a watermelon, and that's exactly it! (Or two watermelons, in my case!)
  10. That makes me feel better that twin no 2 has been walking for 3-4 weeks and I haven't got round to getting her shoes yet!
  11. What I personally would be up for would be having someone I could introduce my 6 yo to, to be occasional back up for the morning school run or school pick up. I do have a network of people, but it's still hard.
  12. Other things my sister and friends and cleaner have done to help me since I had the twins: Go through the drawers of baby stuff and take out everything grown out of and pack up for charity or to sell/freecycle/give away/loft Tackle the washing mountain, take the ironing pile and either fold and put away, or iron as necessary. Clean out the fridge! Giving the bathroom a really thorough clean, the bits I couldn't reach when pregannt with twins, and then had no time to do, once they were born. All while helping with the baby/ies and making a cup of tea and having a chat.
  13. I think someone police checked, with insurance and references who could help out here and there would be a godsend to families without their own network. Cover for mum to go to the dentist... for hospital appts.. a few hours help when you have a new baby.. help at bedtime if other parent is away.. that sort of thing. I'm sure it would sell. Admittedly she'd not necessarily be familiar to the children but walking a baby in the buggy for a few hours, or working 4-7pm as an extra pair of hands, that wouldn't be a problem. Or coming to the house and doing the washing up etc and watching the baby while the new mum had a nap or a break. Great idea.
  14. She's also be wise to get a CRB check done.
  15. Yes, that's true. 7am would be the time! Or 6.30!! Is the park open then? I have often thought, btw, there should be a way mums can nap in the afternoon, if pregnant, say.. a minder who'd take an older child out for a 2 hour walk 2-4pm would be a popular offer too, I'm sure! Or someone who'd be an extra pair of hands at teatime/bathtime for families with a new baby or one parent who works late.
  16. I would say it certainly is! Though she'd probably need insurance to cover her in case of accident!

Fear not, it does pass.. I seem to recall at about 3 1/2... certainly once they start school!

  19. Ooh sillywoman, those both sound Fab. I've always wondered about Hever Castle. I guess this is the Meadows. http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:http://www.bexley.gov.uk/service/parks/footscraymeadows.html Has anyone been to the Roman ruin in Bromley?
  20. The Clarkes site doesn't say anything about waiting once walking. My 15m old has been walking for about 3 weeks but I'm waiting till payday!

  23. Is it just me, though, or are many of these sites with child friendly places to stay just fiendishly expensive?!!
  24. Can't yopu get the 176 to waterloo bridge then ealk to Covent Garden from there? Though with a twin buggy, buses are pretty much out of the question, sadly. Have been refused entry to them too many times now, even when there is clearly space. Most drivers won't even open the doors.
  25. 2-3-4 I think it is. Mine for a long time would have a nap (about an hour) 2h after waking, then a further nap (2h) 3 hours after that and then go to bed 4h after that. Awake 7 Nap 9.30ish Wake 10.30 Nap 1.30/2 Wake 3.30/4pm Bed 7.30ish. At 15months mine now sleep from 10-11 and 2-4 though I'd prefer them to nap after lunch as it would be easier to get out to activities (and Saint Gina does recommend 12-2pm I believe) but no way could they manage to stay awake till 12 noon!!
