I've heard guards blowing their whistles even before people have started to get off the train, never mind on. I guess I can rationalise it that they're trying to encourage people to be quick but like Timster says it just stresses people out, and I'd question what difference it makes. At Forest Hill we now have people shouting through megaphones to keep behind the yellow line - I wasn't aware of a big problem there of people falling under incoming trains but it's worth paying two salaries to warn us all.. (Not your station Barry, I know!)

Surely they've made the police aware already rather than waiting for a friend to mention in on a neighbourhood forum?

Word on the street is Milner plays. Inexplicably to my mind, assuming it's right.

From The Guardian - According to our soon-to-be-published Paper View, since 1982, England have won 62% of all World Cup games shown on the BBC, but just 30% of those broadcast by ITV. Tomorrow's England v Slovenia game: on the Beeb. When I mentioned this earlier I was joking.

By "the Mancs" I assume you mean the Salford lot? I've booed City as they've gone off with displays taking us down to the 3rd flight, but only for lack of effort or application. That was the problem last night, they didn't look bothered, Rooney especially. If fans aren't supposed to boo how do we suppose they express their disapproval? "Rah rah chaps, better luck next time!" ain't gonna cut it. And Rooney's comments going off kinda show how separated he, of all people, have got from the fans. The fans there have I imagine saved and scrimped and spent a significant percentage of their annual income to be there, I'd have booed them off. Having said that I'm glad he did say something, it was the most spirit anyone showed all night; that fact it's been PR'd and apologised out of the way is a good example of the corporate blandness we now seem to accept as normal. Get angry Rooney, tell them to feck off, and get in there next time.

Sure he was scared but hey, talking and scared is better than some of the alternatives. Sounds like this was opposite the bus stop more then on the actual junction? Get well soon. -
I hate to see like for like substitutions, they very rarely make something happen. Trouble is the bench is a bit lacking in alternatives. Crouch for Heskey, SWP for Lennon, etc. Can't help think Adam Johnson should have gone to be an alternative, we have no left footed forwards. Joe Cole needs to play, and Capello needs to tell them to attack attack attack.

Even though I didn't a couple of posts up.

Assume you're referring to this on the local councillor thread - Re: East Dulwich councillor - can we help? Posted by: James Barber May 25, 08:14PM "Hi esme, Cllr Lewis Robinson has provided the following update regaridng the south circular junction at the Harvester restaurant. "TfL have undertaken to put a pedestrian phasing insat this juncton and its in their works programme for late summer this year. They have already completed a traffic count to facilitate this as I ran into them on site. I am expecting them to improve the phasing of the lights for traffic at the same time to mitigate traffic flow issues at the junction at the same time." So plans afoot." Although from what I read on this thread it's not clear if that would have helped this particular incident. -

If you watched that game as a total stranger and were picking the team for next time who would you go for? Back four were adequate I guess. Lennon no final product. Gerrard out of position. Barry OK. Lampard OK. Rooney? On today's evidence I'd drop him, looks injured or not interested. Heskey? Crouch was better as the big man. Like they were saying on the telly they look haunted, scared, frightened to take a risk in case they made a mistake and ended up.... taking the wrong option and making mistakes. Tell them Wednesday's team tomorrow or on Sunday, big them up, give them some faith and believe and a boost. Joe Cole on the left, SWP right, Barry screening, Gerrard behind Crouch and Defoe. I kinda think tonight was some kind of cosmic revenge for my enjoyment of the France game last night...
