  1. Shamrock Rovers vs Juventus. Brilliant.
  2. Didn't the Ramones just replace a dead or departed Ramone with a new Ramone and gave him the same name? (I may have made this up)

Glad I quoted the original post.... :)-D
  5. Green Door - Shakin' Stevens
  6. Agreeing with the above "Can I get a pint of lager?" "Yes you can, this is a pub." Ideally the bar person then walks off and serves someone else.
  7. This picture from yesterday's Standard in a piece about motorbike track days. He's going to have to go a lot faster, or indeed just move and take his bike off the stand, if he wants to get his knee down... http://i.thisislondon.co.uk/i/pix/2010/07/biker_415.jpg
  8. I think I know the kind of plug you mean, I'm guessing there's so much sand in there it won't spin, is that the problem or is there sand in the mechanism and it's jammed? If the former I'm guessing take out the u bend, let it dry out (which could take a while) and poke sand out from below.
  9. I wasn't sure from the original (unedited) post what james84 wanted to do - a bit more clarity of what the end goal is would be a good start..

I'm from the North and trust me, Yorkshire caricatures are as annoying to those from the other side of the Pennines as they are down here. As for saying "thank you" on the 176 I think that might have been me.

I started the day well and this has just shattered my illusions about how people surely wouldn't recommend themselves on a local forum. I feel crushed and devalued.

Not the only place I've quoted it but thank you for noticing. To be honest it's become a bit of a catchphrase at ruffers towers.
  14. 2 big regrets for me - 1) Not budgeting and getting in a permanent debt/overdraft habit I'm still struggling to break. 2) Not actually doing the work I should have and not finishing. Same answer to both is do a bit of planning, get a bit organised. If only I knew that then.......... and had acted on it.

You'll see a big difference in insurance costs and, as I'm guessing you're looking at cheapish cars, this could be a significant part of the overall spend. Better to know what you can afford to insure before you start actually looking at cars.

  20. When a poster starts a genuine thread to recommend someone in the ED Business Restaurants & Trades area, and a competitor jumps in and says "ooh, call me!", or alternatively another poster recommends someone else. If you like them that much start your own thread rather than ambushing someone else's. Petty I know but hey, that's what this thread is for.
  21. The octopus is fine in the early round but goes to pieces in the final, the Dutch it is. I'm not actually as excited by the final as I hoped. Holland I've previously said I'm struggling to warm to as they've got there slightly through luck and by van Bommel's constant cheating... Spain just frustrate me and once they start tippy tappy passing I get bit, well bored. On balance I want the Dutch to win but I'm actually looking forward to the 3/4th game much more - if they relax and play football that could be a brilliant game.
  22. Couple of basic things here.. Have you got legal cover with your insurance? If so get on to them. You may also have this if you have a "Plus" type current account so check that, it's easier to get them working for you even if you probably have to chase them all the time. What type of insurance do you have? If third party then you'll be claiming off the other guy, if comp I'm not sure. I'm still not clear about the status of the other car and driver. I fear it was stolen and uninsured from the description of the incident in which case it will be the Motor Insurer's Bureau as described previously. Basic rule though is to bear in mind that the insurers want to pay out the minimum they can get away with, they're there for profit. Ramping up claims gets on my nerves, in the long run no one wins, but do make sure you get what you're entitled to by getting evidence of costs as suggested earlier. And never, ever, accept the first offer. If it will cost you ?x to get a car of the same type age and mileage, get evidence of that, and don't acccept ?y. The first offer from them is an opening to a negotiation, good luck.

I'll touch my Oyster in when I get on a double decker but not on a bendy, probably creating impression of not paying but I have my monthly pass regardless. What is the evidence that capacity can be introduced on this basis? iirc double deckers have significantly less capacity than a bendy bus, combined with lower frequency (I haven't done the maths) how many less spaces per hour does this double impact on capacity equate to? ta
