To Red Devil/Minder I think a few of us on here helped him out with showers, washing clothes etc while he was sleeping rough (in Dulwich Woods) and I found him a flat to stay in via some estate agents quite quickly so he managed to sort himself out as far as I know - Haven't been in contact with him since that time so not sure what he is doing now.

leaves swallowing machine disturbing early sleepers

That probably explains why only one side of Oglander has been cleared of leaves! -
best way to Brighton Aquarium on public transport ?
Carrie replied to kamath's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When I visit my daughter in Brighton I go via Forest Hill as well, quicker and cheaper than the London Bridge route. -
I would liken the pains of having a mirena coil fitted as similar to bad period pains. If you can get your Dr to give you a prescription for mefanamic acid (prescribed for period pain) and take it both the day before and after the fitting you should be ok. I have had a mirena coil for over 10 years now and have not had any periods at all in that time. An additional benefit of the Mirena is that it can also act as HRT, given that I am of a certain age I recently had a blood test carried out to find out whether I was menopausal(as obviously can't rely on when I had my last period). The results came back that I was post menopausal so managed to sail through that without even noticing!!

Call the council, environmental services have a "graffiti removal squad"

It really only means that they are happy that the house is worth what you are borrowing despite the damp, and in fact some lenders have given up making retentions at all (Santander/Abbey is an example)

I suffered from rosacae about 15 years ago, and skin care products have moved on at lot since then! One thing I found that helped was giving up dairy products. Doctor was very dismissive of it as no research to show it worked but it worked for me, so it might be worth a shot!

I am not aware of any local solicitors who can do this as I think this can only be done by the Foreign Office - I think you can send the document off to them by post and get it done for about ?30 (or if you are in a rush they have a "premium service" in London for about double that)- a notary may be able to send it off for you (but would obviously add their own fee to the cost charged by the FCO)Actually have just checked on the FCO website and they have a leaflet https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/legalisation-office-guidance-leaflet

Spam call referring to "Lordship Lane Surgery"
Carrie replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
She probably thought you might want to advertise the Goose is Out on something that they will be preparing for the surgery (e.g an appointment card)- we get calls from people selling advertising space all the time - they just research the local area for businesses that they can "hit on" and your name and/or number must have come up! -
Get a bus (or cab) to Victoria Coach Station and then get the National Express Coach to Stansted - they go every 15 minutes or so! I have a colleague who does this quite often (and does not trust the train due to previous experiences of cancellations!)

Andy and Richard have just completed work on the interior of my husband's new warehouse/studio. They have done an excellent job painting the whole of the interior and constructing storage units. They are personable, reliable and professional and were reasonably priced. I would recommend them.

If you are National Trust members Dyrham Park is only about a mile away from Junction 18 on the M4 (down the A46 towards Bath) which has a great picnic and play area and loads of room to run around and let off steam!

Sainsburys clothes section is closed at the moment so save yourself a journey!

Trying to buy a house in this area is near impossible
Carrie replied to Grotty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If the price of a property changes then the lenders do need to be informed - if the change in price does not push the mortgage over their accepted loan to value ratio then they would probably not change the amount that they were lending you but they are likely to issue a new mortgage offer showing the reduced price. No solicitor would agree to proceed with a reduced purchase price without telling the lender! Abbey would normally get a reduced offer out to you within a week. The other way round it is to get an allowance from the seller to cover the cost of the works (i.e you pay over less on completion but the purchase price on the documents remains the same) but this would also need to be declared to the lender and unfortunately, in my experience, Abbey normally refuse to agree to allowances so in your case you would need to try to get a price reduction if the Seller was willing to negotiate. -
If you are turning the garage into residential accommodation, and if this involves changing the external appearance of the garage (e.g putting windows where the door was) then, yes, you would need estate approval. If your alterations are internal only ( e.g from the outside it would still look like a garage) then you would not.

Try ultrasun, no perfum, preservatives etc, great for sensitive and sun sensitive skin, not sure about eczema because we did not suffer that problem. It is not cheap but it is a once a day application so a bottle lasts a while. Qvc occasionally have good deals on it, you can get it at John Lewis and locally Dr Boo used to stock, not sure whether they still do. Was great for my daughter who was very sun sensitive.

A particularly aggressive duster seller has just called round. There was a very nasty verbal altercation between my husband and him. I have reported it on the police non-emergency number and they are circulating his description but just beware if you live in the area and perhaps think twice before opening the door!

I would vote for Venice, Rome is wonderful but if you feel obliged to do all the sights then it would probably feel like a bit of a route march. Venice just feels magical particularly if you get the Alilaguna water bus from the airport rather than the normal bus.

If you are there at the weekend it is worth going to the Cathedral at about midday - people just put their coats and bags on the ground, form a circle and start dancing the Catalan national dance.

Kitchins do a great set price lunch which brings the cost within reach of mere mortals!

Downside is that quite a lot of lenders won't lend on a flat above commercial premises which will not only limit your choice of mortgage but also potentially cause issues when you come to sell. Upside is you get a lot more flat for your money!

If you haven't chosen anywhere to stay yet Number 31 is a great place to stay (www.number31.ie) and Locks Brasserie is a lovely restaurant (www.locksbrasserie.com) - sorry that I can't work out how to attach those web addresses as linkes - although as we weren't paying not sure of the prices! Did go to some fantastic pubs on a late night pub crawl as well but unfortunately by that time I wasn't paying too much attention to the names and locations of the establishments!
