  1. It's not like a knock knock joke Jezza. There's no punchline. It's men joking about rape. As if it were amusing. I'd say that was mysogyny and I'm not sure why Loz is so keen to try and play "grammar guru" on it.

You think there are lots of woman posting rape jokes?

Unless of course you too believe the North East to be a desolate waste land that can be exploited?

These men who post these things do not just dislike one woman. They have issues with all women. I'm embarrassed to share a chromosone with them.

Yeah, seemingly the Japanese rule the roost at this weight division with a host of talented fighters, many training and fighting out of Mexico. Yamanaka is the WBC champ and is definitely beatable but has a defence coming up so not sure he'll be there for Carl. There are three Kameda brothers, two are champions (WBO and WBA I think) and the youngest is a real handful. It's like mini-Klitschkos!
  7. No mention of Carl Frampton winning again in defence of his Euro title so far. So, here. Good fight. CF looks genuinely talented and should be fighting for a world title sooner rather than later. He hits hard and moves well. A true Macguigan product. Yamanaka is a dirty but limited champion who is defending his title later in Nov. Tomoki Kameda is probably one to avoid in that division though - he fights like a Mexican whirling dervish and is super aggressive.

Stab proof vests are often worn by ordinary PCs or UKBA forces. Bullet proof vests would only be worn by armed officers in situations where they were deemed needed. And a stab proof vest is much lighter and wouldn't stand a chance of stopping live ammo. Only thick, heavy kevlar will do so. I sometimes wonder why I know this stuff...

I have an 18mo - do you think it's too early to start prepping him for the entrance exam? His concentration span is appalling, all he wants to do is run about and play. I'm worried I might not be fulfilling his potential. His language is also really poor. The other day he pointed at a sheep and said "moo". I'm so worried about him. Hopefully Emmanual will get him up to speed. In other news, there is a new ad in the classifieds section for a slightly shop-worn kidney if anyone needs one.
  10. What do you think of the proposed time table? The Premier League and French12 would play out from Aug to Xmas with no breaks (not sure what happens to the Autumn internationals). Then 6 Nations in Feb Mar Then the new Euro Cup from Apr to May.
  11. I've been following this closely. My sympathies are torn. I completely understand the Anglo-French argument that the Italo-Celtic teams get an easy ride due to lack of relegation and automatic qualification. But as a fan I'd be gutted not to see teams from Wales, Ireland and Scotland (less so Italy) compete in a European cup. Perhaps only the top 8 from the Rabo should be entered or relegation introduced with a second tier Celtic/Euro league. At least then there would be a threat of relegation. Although at the moment that would just probably be Treviso and Zebre so not improving the problem of the other teams resting players for league games.

I wonder if you used the same impolite hectoring tone you used on here - that may explain their delay in responding. While I don't doubt that your particular stretch of CP Rd may have a particular issue that requires attention, calls for the Met Police to set up a specific unit to deal with it are ridiculous. James Barber has been nothing but helpful throughout his history on this forum and, unlike you, has provided a useful service to many forumites and residents. The fact that you are asking residents, from outside his ward, to now hector him for his response to you (which was fine btw) is a pathetic low. And the number of views per thread in no way implies support.... The hyperbole on this thread is also alarming. Residents are not being "picked off like gazelles" for example. Such language might work in films and tv but not in real life. Nor is it helpful.
  13. Yeah, I got the full thing too. Yellow top, yeloow shorts with blue trim and yellow socks. Something like the attached. Albeit a miniaturised version on a 7 year old boy in 1989! Edit: From the website I pinched that image from, this rings so true: The new concept quickly caught on and while kits supplied to the clubs were well made, using natural fibres and embroidered detailing, those sold to the public were manufactured as cheaply as possible in nylon with heat-applied plastic logos that broke up after a few washes. These cheaply made replicas were sold at two or three times the price of the generic copies that preceded them and became must-have items for the nation's young fans, proudly worn on the school playing field and at the weekend kick about in the park.
  14. Team supported: Leeds United (1989-2012) Where from: Surrey Reason: The first footie kit I was given was a lovely second hand polyester number in 1970s yellow by an Aunt. Coincided with the club's promotion from old Div2 to Div1 and subsequent championship win. A roller coaster ride over the following 20 years ensued. Footnote: The relationship ended recently. No final straw per se and it's with football as a whole and not just Leeds. All of it got to me. The vulgar sums of money; the chanting I'd be ashamed to let my son hear if I were ever to take him; the poor role models that the majority of footballers make; endemic homphobia/sexism; racism at my own club; poor sportsmanship; etc etc. I just couldn't be bothered to care any more. But I liked this little meme enough that I wanted to contribute. Hope that's ok.
  15. This is now very strange. What was a three lane junction heading east has now become two, removing a filter lane for turning right. Yet in the other direction, heading west, it remains two lanes as before. There seems to be absolutely no benefit to anyone for this change and a lot of time and money spent doing so.
  16. Flaxmans gym in Camberwell is on ?20pcm. Not sure what equipment you want though....it's mainly free weights and resistance machines rather than cardio stuff.
  17. As a cyclist who makes the same right turn on a daily basis this new layout, without a filter lane, feels horribly dangerous. And I don't understand where the space has gone either. The opposite direction is still two lanes as before and there is still a pedestrian island. Utterly bizarre.
  18. Ignore John. He's the forum's resident grinch whose raison d'etre is to pour scorn and shout folly at anything new or innovative.
  19. There is inverse proportionality at play in Andersons. The more hipster-looking the person is who serves you, the slower the service. So laid back as to be horizontal. And a beanie indoors?! The word professionalism is obviously banned. More hilariously is the constant nipping across the road to Payless to buy ingredients they've run out of. No wonder their prices are high if they are still buying retail rather than wholesale. I gave up eating in their ages ago after yet another long wait for food that never arrived and surly service by the woman who runs the place. A loaf of bread is all I ever go in for now.

  22. Hi James What are your thoughts on free school meals for 5-7 year olds? ;-) Best wishes David
