  1. Could anyone do a copy of the Haywain on a massive scale?
  2. Le me know when you find an injured swan. I'll come and, err, save it.
  3. Something to consider is when you need it for i.e time of day. If it's lunchtime, they'll need to be onsite super early to get it fired up and begin roasting the beast. It takes about 6 hours.
  4. Dispatch, pluck and gut. Pop it in the freezer until Xmas. Yum.

Post bollards but pre Victoria Inn, so I reckon I get some sort of credit for foresight.... It's the shop selling wood carvings of your favourite reggae artists I really miss though.
  6. Some of us arrived a while ago and have been waiting for the street to catch up! ;-)
  7. Bon voyage Mamora Man. Your sane and reasonable presence will be missed. Good luck in the West Country, don't let the locals bite. As a former navy man I can't think of a more suitable destination for you. Do come back for visits. Are you have a farewell snifter somewhere I could buy you a single malt?
  8. It is very popular. Carnell Jnr was on the waiting list before birth to get an offer at 12months. And I think we were lucky. Although that alone should tell you the high regard in which it is held locally. I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about it.

  10. Gumboots Dad here. My wee man goes two days a week (Thurs and Fri) and has been there for about 4-5 months now. We moved him from another nursery we were happy at mainly due to the cheaper fees. I can happily say it was an excellent decision. He started there at about 12months old and initially sobbed and howled when dropped off. Whilst every baby is different and will settle in at their own speed, within the first month nursery staff said he was fine within minutes of me leaving (it was a bit of an act on his part, the big drama queen!) He now can't wait to get in there. I drop him off on my bike and he walks in of his own accord and waves hello to the staff. They are all lovely and I'd happily put him there full time if we needed it. I'm sure your child will settle in soon enough. I've never seen any kids crying in the afternoons at pick-up - they're all having too much fun!

Oh god. You do know I was taking the piss, right? It wasn't some shrouded personal attack. Jeez.
  12. It's a French wine shop. They probably are charging that much to get you back for drinking such horrid new world muck. Have an armagnac.
  13. Just an alert to anyone who grows vegetables in their front garden. I had my french bean plant stripped this morning of all its beans. Not a huge amount as only a single plant but a decent enough crop. I'm now going to have to move my remaining veg out to the back garden. A pity to have to do this but some people clearly have no shame.
  14. What are the fees? I don't think my conscience would allow it anyway, despite this being the sort of school I'd dream about sending my son to, but I'd be interested to know anyway. What a shame.
  15. Hello This sounds very interesting. Could you supply some more details please? Are you going to be a state-funded primary, a free school or a fee-paying private school? Could you provide more information about your curriculum and how it would be taught? Thanks, David.
  16. Dinner inside the iguanadon! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/99/Crystal_palace_iguanodon.jpg/640px-Crystal_palace_iguanodon.jpg
  17. Bakery on Choumert Road/Grove SE15 next door to Cafe Viva. Can't remember name. Try there.
  18. Gowlett and Prince Albert in the Bellenden area both have pool tables. The Castle too I think. Or the pool hall on Rye Lane.
  19. Isn't the building across the road of an identical nature? I note you've yet to suggest an alternative to plans that have met, elsewhere, with near universal approval, JohnK. Perhaps you'd like to take this opportunity to do so? In other news, a new cycle hub has appeared next door to the station in some of the refurbished area - something that will no doubt be welcomed by those who cycle from further afield to catch the train.
  20. Are you suggesting the false arcade in front of the station matches the building opposite? Therefore we shouldn't knock it down? Your endless riddles and half-clues "I know more than you" act grows rather wearisome.
  21. Can't see the fixture on the Dulwich CC website. Anyone know where it's being played?
  22. What El-Pibe (Loz and Otta) said.
  23. Erection of a single storey timber clad building adjacent to the existing clubhouse, to be used as a children's day nursery (D1) Monday-Friday, and to provide evening and weekend wet weather sports teaching facilities (D2). Sounds a fairly sensible application and the elevation sketches make it look quite sympathetic. This isn't housing or factories but probably a much needed community facility. I'd quite like my child to be educated on such a site.
  24. Or the very very decent pizza at the Gowlett, where you can also have a very nice pint of various beers, a trip too far at 5mins walk from Goose Green?
