Me too, although I read it as "technically middle class" like I had the right job but wrong accent. Anyway, I'm off to update my tumblr account on my ipad and then go for a flat white with Giles, my graphic design friend.

Much more efficient than an open fire. Less heat escapes up the chimney (70% plus in an open fire compared to less than 20% in a wood burner) and they use less fuel to creat more heat. Less risk of fire damage I suppose and if you can connect yours to a back-boiler you can use it to heat water and other areas of the house. You can even use it to generate electricity to sell back to the national grid.

Speak for yourself. I'm wearing most of these today....

Most of my road is suddenly unavailable which is odd. I know nothing of treasure though.

Seriously?! Frickin' geek. Just look outside! ;-)

Talking or music? Absolute Radio is MOR but tolerable for the latter. If you don't like Radio4 or BBCLdn or LBC then 5Live is your only other option....pretty decent sometimes.

How are you lot doing? I got 65secs for the easiest level and up to 34 on the middle one. Have you seen te YouTube video of the creator playing the hyper version of level 3? Utterly mental!
-
53 secs. Boom.

Oh, hadn't spotted Ryan. No way. Parling/Launchbury/Gray/Hamilton all had better tournaments. No8 is a problem position. Best in the Premiership for second season running is Nick Easter but if he's not playing internationals is he in the running? He plays Heineken Cup which is on the same level in the knock out stages.

Don't think I'd have O'Brien or Faletau. Robshaw should be there. And I'm tempted by Laidlaw at 9 rather than Phillips or Young. But otherwise about right I think. Hooker is a very tight call indeed. And maybe not Healey at LH either now I look at it.

I'm all about Thamesmead. The smell of sewage is just, like, so..... it.

And penis-shaped bollards. Chillaxed - this isn't aimed at you....*deep breath* Ok - I'm coming out the closet. I like those bollards. There I said it. They're much bloody nicer than the standard municipal-catalogue street furniture you get everywhere else. And it was a local artist. And nazi-grocers? Seriously? The poor chaps at the General Store are open a week and get this flack? They're young, independent and investing their money in a business they think the local community will like. If you don't, fine. Shop somewhere else. They took over an empty unit, they didn't displace some sacred cow. There are plenty of shops nearby selling mouldy veg for a ?1 a bowl and not many selling a nice bit of cheese so no one is losing out here and a lot more people are winning. You'd think in a recession some people would be pleased to see such developments but seemingly the same old misanthropes are out in force. Put up or shut up.

You live here, you are local. No one has dibs on an area because they've lived there longer than someone else. And everyone has benefitted from the regen. Facelifts to Bellenden and surrounding residential streets. New street lighting and furniture. That's not for us blow-ins but the whole community. What shops/services are meant to have opened that would have better served the "local" community?
-
> It's decline arose from people 'Like Myself' > staying away because the area became unsafe at > night. > Due to poor lighting and general neglect from the > local authorities. Well that's really the fault of "the locals" isn't it? They're the ones committing the crimes. Not people from Clapham. Whilst the council/police could have perhaps mitigated the situation, let's try and place blame where it's due. > Hardly a New Local Business. > > There area has gone through several phases in the > last 50-60 years. And it'll go through several more. You're like King Cnut standing against the tide. The council have invested money, businesses have come (and gone) and yet you still pine for shitty back street boozers and boarded-up units. Utterly insane.

It's a far from perfect pub. I have issue with it on many levels, from the average food, poor service and over-priced drinks. BUT....it's busy. All the time. So they're doing something that a lot of people like. You may not like it. You may not like the people either. But I refuse to believe that it would be preferable to go back 5 years to before it existed.

Mine is less gun turret and more pea shooter. But giggirl can put a note under it nonetheless. The dents buff out.

Bullshit. Did you ever go in the Wishing Well? Mostly empty, mostly unfriendly and mostly a dump. The Victoria Inn opens, and despite having problems, it's consistently full of locals and families spending money. Nothing to do with the council. Everything to do with the landlord and the punters. Build it and they will come. These places are for locals. Just different locals to the ones you imagine. There is room for both.

I drive this. MAkes parking in Sainsbos a doddle. http://www.army-technology.com/projects/bradley/images/brad6.jpg

I used ZipCar until recently when I got my own car for the first time. It was efficient, nearly always had a vehicle when I needed one and I thought it was good value for money. I'd recommend it especially if you are only an occasional user. I hear good things about Whip Car - you use individuals cars rather than a fleet from company. As far as I know, none allow you to have a drop off point far away without incurring a financial penalty that makes it pointless.

I've lived here for 7 years and have been gagging for someone to open a provisions store at the bottom of my street. It's not like you're short of cheap-arsed fruit and veg on Rye Lane is it? Sometimes I don't want my apples to come in a plastic bowl.

And if you get a grey import STi version it'd be akin to a WRC rally!

Eternal optimist, that's me. France still look cack for 90% of the game and Scotland will be hurting from the Welsh loss.

Your Lions captain has to be the no1 choice for his position and be a shoe-in to play all 3 tests. There aren't many players in that position. I think I might be tempted to make Rory Best my hooker and captain. As good as Youngs in the loose and Hartley at line-outs, more consistent than Hibberd and Ross Ford. Seems like a no-brainer. Every other position seems to have two choices with little to choose between them. For what it's worth my XV would be 15 - Halfpenny 14 - North 13 - O'Driscoll 12 - Tuilagi 11 - Visser 10 - Sexton 9 - Phillips 8 - Faletau 7 - Robshaw 6 - Brown 5 - Parling 4 - Launchbury 3 - Cole 2 - Best © 1 - Vunipola

Suburu Forester or Outback. Roomy, never break down, unnassuming but easy to spot in car park (if that's an issue) and decent performance/economy.
