OK, so you could have an opinion which you express that Boris is a gob on a stick journalist/MP who resembles a penguin or walrus, will that offend Boris, no as he is so thick skinned or a a community, No. Had Boris mentioned other religions who wear religious clothing to identify they belong to a specific religion, the level of anger he has succeeded in causing would have been less, but he mentioned a specific group and in true Boris style put his foot squarely in his mouth, probably why Theresa was likely to sack him had he not resigned from the Cabinet. It created a wave of publicity and whether that was his intention or not, who knows but it got everyone in the press, on TV and Radio talking and discussing what he had written in the article, for the best part of a week. I'm bored hearing and seeing this story replicate like the nasty little infection it has become, and would much prefer Boris's last newspaper article to be tomorrows fish and chip wrapper and end up where it and probably he deserves to be, binned one and for all.

Yes and you could express an opinion that Boris looks like a penguin or a walrus, which is similar to him saying women in burka's look like a letter box. It was his OPINION which you may agree or disagree with. It got him three to four days worth of Free publicity from other reporting channels plus its become a topic on here.

Barry Parade/Peckham Rye Corner Planning Proposal

The image posted on Twitter looks good, much better than the current eyesore that is currently there, and where will Roy Brooks be moving too? More NIMBY, "oh no not another CoOp" -
Where would you like a new bench in Goose Green ward?
dbboy replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes I realise they do not come for nothing, no such thong as a free lunch as they say BUT as you represent the people who live in the Ward or travel through it to use facilities in and around the Ward, would have thought you would want to do the best to serve the community and leave your mark in the Ward of what you have eventually achieved. Like your predecessor did. At least you are engaging with the community unlike some others see another thread who not appear to be doing so. -

The market is tough out there and is only going to get tougher up to March 2019 and then for the following two years, so if you're selling, get onto your agent and badger them to get you viewings and make them earn their commission because you'll already find they have increased it and I can only assume it will be further increased to compensate for the slowness of the market. Don't be surprised if their commission rates increase over the next 24 months to 2% or even 2.5%. You'll also slowly see Estate Agents closing their doors as competition between them intensifies. The benefit is the proven good agents will prosper while the remainder will gradually wither away. You'll already have noticed if you are a seller that some agents are continuing to make unsolicited approaches trying to entice sellers away from their agent. This type of activity by agents is likely to only increase, but on the plus side their will be far less of agents marketing through letter boxes. I'd guess the independents are even more at risk.

I'd rather buy British than something made on the either side of the world and shipped here, however unfortunately it is not always possible as we do not manufacture anything like we used to do. Try buying something like a British all metal deck kitchen mixer tap, very difficult to find something suitable.

New Flats At ED Station - Be Warned! (it has a "veneer")
dbboy replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
just love the overflow pipe sticking out on RNS right avove the station roof, such a nice feature and the angle is lets say interesting!!!! -
Nope but you will dependant on location near transport links, schools, open space and of course depends on what you are offering and the condition of the property. Some buyers move in and gradually make their changes while others from day one, arrive like a whirlwind and start making changes almost immediately, which actually depends on what your budget is you have for future works, personally I'd say don;t rush, take your time to make up your mind.

The market has been slowing down significantly for the last 18+ months, three years ago, the market was buoyant and booming. It took something like two years to sell a house, with a sizable reduction. Why - Estate Agents over egged the market and pushed prices up, now the chickens are coming home to roost. A lack of certainty in the market with prices dropping, people do not want to buy in case prices drop further, stamp duty is crippling the middle to top end of the market, which in effect is money down the drain, you never get back. Brexit is the Estate Agents answer to everything, however the last conversation with the Agent after selling went along the lines of, until we leave the EC in less than a year the market will remain slow and potentially prices will drop further, there is no crystal ball. After that for the following two years it will still remain sluggish until there is certainty about the future and things have settled. So what do the agents do, they increasing their rates to 1.5% to compensate as sellers are requiring multiple viewings to get one sale. Which ever way you look at it, you have the choice of sitting it out for three years and seeing where the market is then or selling at a lower price knowing where you are buying is probably doing the same thing. Good luck, it was difficult, painful at times, frustrating but eventually relieving. ps. Surveyors and bulders are not helping as they to are taking ful advantage of the situation.

So how many stabbings have their been in ED in the last 10 years? None that I'm aware of, sounds like a bit of scaremongering actually. Oh how sad to hear this news, especially in the 40th year of business and he was due to retire this year. We have lost part of the local community and a poster here on EDF. I hope details of the funeral will be made available so those who which to pay their respects maybe able to.

So with FHR sub PO closed till 2nd July, the alternatives ate the sub PO on Brockley Rise were the P12 terminates, PO in WHSmiths Forest Hill. PO at Goose Green, PO nearly opposite Peckham Bus terminal, can't think if there is one in Nunhead? or any other's. Is there there a sub PO in the parade of shops close to the vets on Lordship Lane? Seems we are short of sub post offices, so likely to be longer queues at other Post Offices.
-
Did they sell up or did PO give them the push? All were nice except the tall woman who was always difficult to deal with.

Depending what you want, I have used South London Timber on the OKR, very reasonable. see http://sltimber.co.uk/

Do we really want, need or have to discuss Trump, like his name full of hot air and a buffoon. But then most from the USA are loud mouthed, never met a quiet or civilised one.
-
Yep, RPC totally agree. If you rode to day, it would have been a great day weather wise as warm but not really hot and little breeze. It's quite an eclectic mix of people who go, not all to protest, some to take the opportunity of riding round London starker's and liberating.
-
You go to the end point, some party, others get dressed and depart. Yes lots will go to W.Norwood, undress prior to starting that part of the ride and ride from there to the meet up with the main ride, usually all is explained on the London wnbr website. If you participate and loads of people will, have a great time.

What is the point of spamming on here when the person has to register and then they post nonsense, clearly they have nothing better to do with their time. Time is precious, make the most of every moment you have because no one knows what may happen next. One minute you can be feeling absolutely fine enjoying life, the next hit by a medical emergency and in hospital fighting for your life. So don't waste a moment and enjoy every day you have.
