Seems as though Royal Mail's track and signed for is not living up to its name, have seen parcels left on doorsteps that presumably have been tracked during there journey but have not been signed for. So much for a secure mail system and no wonder things go missing so easily if this is how little regard Royal Mail give to securely delivering packages (and yes I do have evidence to support what I have stated).

Forest Hill Road Surgery - Vol 2
dbboy replied to George Orwell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Report it to CQC, they need to go back into special measures if they are unable to provide a basic service. -
I never said UC was here because of Brexit. What I DID say was "nothing will change till Brexit is put to bed, you can expect that to be a minimum of at least two years and with May's inability to move this forward, things are likely to get worse before they get better. And I wasn't blaming those who where caught up in the roll out of this new way to pay benefits in one payment, rather than a number of different payments. And it looks like May's days are numbered, and if what is expected happens tomorrow, she'll be gone by Christmas if not before. What's more, careful for what you wish for, because it could be far, far worse. The EU have stated they will not change the agreement, so which ever political party is in power, its going to have to deal with the situation the UK is in.

Sorry, what Natty is saying is simply STOP UC, and which he has further said it should go back to the way it was before. That will NEVER happen. The previous DWP Minister Ester McVey knew that the roll out needed to be revised in terms of how it was rolled out, but 1) roll out was going to continue and 2) anyone that needed an advance would be given one, but it would need to be repaid. i.e. You don't get something for nothing any more. Ministers are aware of what changes that are needed and have put in place a "fix" to help those who need to use the "fix". Not perfect but better than not having anything in place. But that does not get away from the fact that UC is here but because of the current situation with Brexit, nothing will change till Brexit is put to bed, you can expect that to be a minimum of at least two years and with May's inability ti move this forward, things are likely to get worse before they get better. Plus if Corbyn got into power, heaven help us, would the last person leaving UK plc turn off the lights and shut the door!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously people do matter, I don't know how you came up with stating "It's heartless to tell such people that they don?t matter because of Brexit". Until Brexit is resolved nothing is going to change and things such as UC will continue to be rolled out. Natty saying stop is frankly pointless. It is shocking too see so many people begging and living on the streets. Had to go to the Strand a couple of weeks ago and that really shows how much people are suffering, ditto was in Cheltenham last weekend and even there, people were begging on the streets. Something is seriously wrong when in the 21st Century people have to live on the streets (that's not living, that's just surviving)and beg. It Political persuasion of the Party in power doesn't matter, what does matter is doing something to help people get off the streets and into somewhere to live. The politicians roll out these programmes but do not see first hand the results, however that does not mean that the roll out will stop.

Really, there are far weightier matters happening politically Right Now, somehow think you'll find the topic of UC is pretty down the pile. Natty why don't you do something constructive rather than single word posts and you care so much, you're posting a petition started my the Mirror, oh come on.

The numbers involved are not small

So what do you suggest they replace it with, if it was stopped? And if it was stopped (extremely unlikely with the amount invested in it's roll out), how do you think people will cope?????? The whole idea of the benefit is that they are paid jointly in arrears, the Government has already said that where people experience difficulties with this, they can be given an advance that they can then repay over 12 months. The roll out will continue, they have put too much time and effort into the change already for them to retreat and change what is being done.

No buses running through lordship lane
dbboy replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Nightmare getting into town yesterday lunchtime with 12 terminating at Lambeth North, changing buses to find out the far side of the bridge by Parliament Sqaure was all closed off to traffic as it's being dug up and no buses running along Whitehall. Tried to get a 176 from the Strand back to East Dulwich, had to give up and go further into town to pick up a bus to get back into south east London. So much for bus drivers communicating, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! So what was planned to be a quick trip to pick an item up took a heck of a lot longer. Now I know why I hate travelling into central London. -
Saw chase being given by Sainsbury's staff at DKH, someone making off with food from the deli, think it was a couple of teenage girls.

Maybe it will re-iterate the buyer and seller process to everyone.

Worst local transport journeys
dbboy replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hopefully the P13 will have returned to route on Underhill road tomorrow and the Langton Rise/Woodvale junction will be back to normal post road works so the two bus stops will have re-opened? -
What's the betting that if the Govt No deals on Brexit, the cost of the weekly shop will rocket in price as soon as it is announced or possibly from 1st April next year? Has anyone bought additional non perishable items as a precaution (especially those that are imported into the UK from the continent/EU?

thanks, just found out myself having walked to Underhill to get a P13. Hey ho!!!!!!!

TfL plan to reroute Bus 40 away from London Bridge
dbboy replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I believe buses are controlled by something called "Ibus", a controller who monitors where buses are in there journey compared to where they should be plus in the cab is a device that seems to allow the driver see where they should be. This can result in buses crawling between stops as a P13 did yesterday from Underhill Road to Lordship Lane at which point it returned to "normal" speed. You'll here a message broadcast on the bus saying "this bus has been instructed to wait here to even out the service". The driver puts out this message so they can "legitimately" wait at a bus stop for a few minutes. Really annoying when it happens and being turfed off early because the bus is terminating earlier than its destination is even more annoying. Its apparently called progress, yeah, right, I'd quite happy describe it as something else though. Little us the paying public can do about it. -
well, fill out the forms you get online, job done, double LOL, end off.

We used a specialist probate company from Brighton, which was a lot LOT cheaper than using a local solicitor. These Probate companies do all the work for you, all you have to do then is settle the inheritance tax with HMRC. NB. You have six months from the date of death to get this sorted, otherwise HMRC will charge you 3% on what is owed and that adds up damn quickly. Good luck

It's not blaming councillors, rather to get them to act as our representatives, because that is what they are, to chase TW to get things fixed so the water is not off for three days.

Suspect people will shop elsewhere and Rye Lane will suffer.
