  1. You into fisking too brum?
  2. KidKruger Wrote: > - no reason why females can't enjoy such a pastime > KK. I've been enjoying fisking in the Drawing Room since that room's inception.
  3. Seconded HAL9000. Oh Mark, I've just realised...I misquoted. The gentleman in question actually used the term East Dulwich Forum Currency (as opposed to simply ED currency). So there you go...you have somehow managed to create your own currency!! I think it's fantastic how the Forum's For Sale section meaningfully places the local in "local economy". And if, by offering stuff for free too, we are saving our Council from having to dispose of items which would otherwise have been destined for the tip - then that's fine by me. We all gain in the end. There will always be a minority of abusers, but it would be sad to allow their behaviour to deter the majority from acting in good faith.
  4. Welcome back DaveR - thought you might have been frightened off. Any thoughts on this new Act? I've started scanning through it, but at 251 pages long it's a slog.

Mr. Boogie! Of course what you do in Your Own Backyard is your own business. But what would Alice think? This Midnight Lady is Moving On.
  7. Re. my previous post, I forgot to mention that - on occasion - the collector of "free" stuff has given us a bottle of wine when we hadn't asked for it! I remember one gentleman in particular - referred to it as East Dulwich Currency! So, definitely WIN WIN on that occasion at least.
  8. Well, our household have offered stuff for free on the odd occasion purely because it was something (a) we no longer needed (b) that wasn't suitable for the charity shop and © which, had we not given it away, would probably have ended up in landfill. The people who collected the stuff were usually pretty grateful too. Result - win win. So, to answer your question, I don't see the issue as a big deal. PS: why is this not in the Lounge?
  9. Moos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Those eggs look far too fresh, LM. Ahem...yes Moos they are. However, if His Grumpiness doesn't show up soon I shall cook myself a "fry up" (in the Lounge - naturally).
  10. Still waiting Huguenot... (Advance apologies to Moos for bout of "aggression")
  11. Usual big thanks for arranging Georgia.

Spot on! >A trait which if > anything, is more common amongst the non-fiskers! *falls off chair laughing* Over to you grumpy old man!
  13. pffft...prohibited from quoting Homer Simpson, unable to bring in bacon sandwiches, and now the practice of "fisking" is to be limited to "from time to time"? It's all going to the dogs I tell you...to the dogs...(and grumpy old men). Incidentally, isn't this thread ripe for tossing into the About This Forum section? *clears off to The Lounge with lunchbox and can of cider*

  16. On well done Mr. Pallywotsitoos...I couldn't locate my dibber - had to use my finger... Should have borrowed yours (dibber - not finger), now that it has been duly cleansed.
  17. Actually, I'm a little busy at the moment, but please feel free to pass by me and help yourself...I'd be delighted to share some with you.http://localfoodsandusky.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/dandelions_01.jpg
  18. Exposure is fine - ridiculing less so. Anyway, will the new Equality Act 2010 make a blind bit of difference - or not? Edited to provide actual Act in its entirety.
  19. Well, we appear to have gone from seeds...to bush...and now weed... Turning out to be a proper gardener's thread...oh and there was the mention of a Dutch hoe too...and not forgetting the star of the show - Michael Pallywotsitpoo's unclean and unbuffed dibber...
  20. Undertones? ;-)

  23. Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry if you thought it was sneery DaveR, I wasn't > trying to sneer (which is quite snotty schoolboy), > I was trying to ridicule. I have just seen this...you are one bad Huguenot. DaveR, I think you would have been marginally better off with the sneer - should have kept quiet.
  24. Double standards I say!(6)
  25. Oh Quids!!! How I've missed your posts! *hugs ????, then regains composure* Ahem...will return later when I have less pressing things to do. In the meantime, here is a minute summary of the brand new "Equality Act"...couldn't find the Act on-line. Will it make any difference?
