  1. If the owner is not wearing a hair shirt and facing bankruptcy then I am outraged.

  3. This thread's been going over a week, it feels like it could go on for years.

Or are you scared of the north end or something?

(!?)
  6. Not In My Back Yard, I say.
  7. Jog on the spot until the gate opens
  8. This is another thread I'm getting framed for the grandkids.
  9. Has anyone else been ill with anything recently? I had a bit of hayfever the other day, but it seems to have gone now. Goose Green area.

Even a ?100 lock can be cut with an angle-grinder. It's about leaving thieves enough time with the bike to be able to do it. Your bike isn't going to get nicked from Peckham Pulse if you lock it up properly with a decent lock and don't leave it overnight or something.

  14. Nice to see what the Memory Lane area used to look like. Before they built those awful flats on it.
  15. I can't remember the old menu. It's a good place to drink a pint of adequately-gassed lager without being disgusted or deflowered . * IDEA: This can go on the new menu, if there's space for testimonies?

I've not been for a month or so. I hope they don't introduce new a menu featuring wind-dried tuna and halogen lighting : (

Prince Albert is ace , and cheap too. (Disclaimer, I am not the landlord of the Prince Albert)

Google the number - if you get a bunch of other Gumtree listings it's a hunch it might be a thief. Gumtree is rife with stolen bikes.

Similarly you often see a load of public service-based publicity posters (particularly police ones, fellow cowering residents of ED) regarding all the good work being done in your area when there's an election looming.
  21. here you go, over at the guardian they're debating this furiously http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/blog/2009/may/26/charity-shop-donations
  22. I am open to bribes if The Vale needs another login? If it's a goer I'll remove this post to cover our tracks. ;-) Just get the copy over to me by Friday each week plus a cheque, and I'll do the rest : ) Additional jibes directed at rival establishements (eg The other day I saw a man sobbing into his flat pint outside The Gowlett, which looked to be on fire), will be extra.
  23. Gowlett always impresses out of towners. That's it really.

They are either needy or > not, or thieving or not. I never actuually brought that part into it, that's someone else's issue.. It's obvious that at some point the items will cost money when they are put on the shelves. You wouldn't steal from a charity shop when the items were in situ, why it it any different sifting through the pile outside? Parking a car up outside makes it all the more hilarious though. I often chastise people for it outside the one next to Boss Man Wines. None of them ever look particularly destitute. Just cheap.
