If they try the ?20 fine for cycling on the pavement thing, just cycle off. Actually, if they approach you regarding anything just cycle off. What are they going to do, chase you on their scooter?

Broken glass is a street cleaning issue and hence a different department. I imagine they are told to err on the side of caution (ie I can almost imagine a thread on here titled 'Unsightly children's chalk drawings on my road simply must stop NOW')

The unlocked bit contains acres of grass, suitable for picnics and running.

As a PR myself, I find there's very little that lunch at The Salt Yard and 2 bottles of wine won't get you in terms of coverage ; )
  5. I think the issue here is with staff training, and not with some kind of evil masterminded plot by Somerfield - the very suggestion of which would of course would be libellous.

That sounds fantastic. But what to call it? Perhaps they could incorporate a US state, picked seemingly at random into their signage?
  7. I heard Obama was spotted at a Bilderberg meeting. http://www.film.it/fnts/film/immagini/278x182/signs03.jpg
  8. I'd like some sort of shop where I can get a phone repaired and unlocked, buy a range of fascias for it and get my nails done in the back room.

Very near the station there's an ace shop that sells tweeds, hunting hats, plus fours, sticks, vintage dress shirts, the lot. Nothing has a price and you have to barter with an eccentric lady to purchase anything. One of my favourite shops in South London.
  10. I'm sure many of you use the likes of Peckham Hill Street regularly when cycling towards the river, in case you aren't familiar with it a recent photo is below: http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39538000/jpg/_39538770_bus_afp.jpg There's plenty of roads around ED that spring to mind as well... This site below lets you report knackered roads and they will submit the problem to the council on your behalf: http://www.fixmystreet.com/

On the contrary. They can write what they want. It's just unlikely that many people are going to read it.

I'm going to read everything you've ever posted on here in a minute to ensure you don't work there, but following on from that I might have to give this place a go...
  14. On a scale of 1 - Gowlett where do they rate?
  15. We don't have 'Citizen Surgeons', so why should 'Citizen journalism' be any better? The subjective opinion of someone whose blog gets literally tens of hits isn't going to sway where I choose to eat.
  16. Cassius Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I used to think that a record shop was > essential............... Dream Machine used to sell them but it was unclear what was for sale and what was part of their front room. Opening a record store in a suburb is basically suicide these days.
  17. I love betting and would like to see some sort of premises where I can do this. I also really like buying those birthday cards with an old-fashioned photograph juxtaposed with a hilarious 'modern' caption, often implying something rude! I'd love a shop that sold these to open in ED.
  18. Bossman for prog beers with scarecrows and such on the label like 'Circle Master'. Barry Road offie for a 6 for ?5 'bag of shame' deal. 24hr Offie next to Peckham Rye for 6am Marlboro and another 6 Red Stripes which will be your downfall later that day...

I didn't actually think people 'spat tea at their screens', when I read that milk was pretty much frothing out of my nose.

  24. Maybe they've better things to do.
