  1. Is the person that wrote: "I have a massive confession. I don't really like going to pubs anymore I was bought up in a pub going extended family and the pub was central to my life for most of my teenage years and the majority of my adult life. Nowadays I can't understand the attraction of going night after night or staying out until the early hours in pubs. I don't mind going out once in a while to the pub but in general it's a boring money drain and I'd rather do something else. There. I said it. I feel liberated an am embracing my grumpy old man."
  2. Not sure why it should be anymore difficult for water - the pipes are a similar size to gas and the meters are smaller.
  3. It would be much fairer if we all had water meters. Why should the person who lives alone subsidise large families ?
  4. ..and your broadband provider is ?
  5. I like the kind of buildings the architects have designed. http://fcbstudios.com/ I just hope that they are given a free hand and aren't having to work with the existing hospital. It would be great to see an inspirational building, designed for teaching and learning in the 21st century.
  6. On positive note, it could be work discussing having the new wall built straddling the line between the two properties and built to support a similar extension on your side. That way if you should ever decide to do something similar, you'd be well on the way !
  7. @tractorload - try using https://www.fixmystreet.com/around?pc=commercial+way+se15#report

The lack of an interchange between the ginger line and Brixton tube seems ridiculous to say the least.
  9. I'd be interested to know if TfL have assessed the impact of more double-deckers on the bridge outside of North Dulwich station. Wasn't is closed for ages some years back because it needed strengthening ? Probably not an issue but just wondering..
  10. @Jah - not sure who was first the US or the UK, this was what I got when I ordered a beer in Brooklyn last summer.
  11. Maybe it didn't have bollos...
  12. I spoke to VM on 27/1 to complain about their poor download speeds in the evening, (which BTW I am currently monitoring on an automated basis and it falls off a cliff between 6pm to 11pm) and they promised to rebate me until it was fixed, which at the time they reassured me would be "early Feb". Needless to say that (a) it has not been fixed and (b) when I received my bill no rebate had been applied. However when I spoke to them again today, they were more efficient and forthcoming and have provided a rebate of ?7.50 per month, backdated to 27/1 and fixed in place until 19th May which is when they expect the capacity issues to be resolved.

  14. Don't confuse a consultation with a vote. Having said that as I have said before this is a sledgehammer to crack a nut and really feel for those that live around there and how they will be affected. I am especially concerned about the change of Bellenden from one-way to two-way between Holly Grove and Chadwick. The current one-way street provides vehicles overtaking cyclists with plenty of room, a two-way street means that the road will be considerably narrower travelling from north to south and vice-versa, especially as cars will be parked on the side with houses.
  15. Lineup announced. Never heard of any of them, but then I'm probably not the target demographic.
  16. An event for some of our older forum members ? Jellied eels not included. http://www.barbican.org.uk/library/event-detail.asp?ID=19107
  17. Each to their own. Bellenden Road shops are Bellenden Road shops. Bellenden Village is Estate Agent guff.

  21. Interesting site that demonstrates the increase in passenger numbers at rail stations from 1998-2015. Comes as no surprise that East Dulwich has increased by 477% ! http://www.bettertransport.org.uk/blog/better-transport/how-much-has-your-station-grown-check-out-our-interactive-map
  22. I can't see any reason for it to loop. It would need to operate in both directions or how would someone travelling from Red Post Hill to Sainsburys do the reverse journey ? Operating in both directions would require a separate route number eg 42a. Can't see TfL buying to this.
  23. Also spoke to Virgin last night. After the usual palaver about testing the equipment they agreed that the speed was very low - I'm getting around 1.5-2M - should be 50M. As others have said its a capacity issue and the person I spoke to said that it was expected to be resolved during the first week of February. I won't hold my breath. Standard compensation is paid from the date of making a complaint so I'd advise you to ring sooner rather than later if you're having problems.
