As regards your question about the "30 amp fuse". "Fuses" aren't fitted any more, modern consumer units have the MCB's that I referred to but sometimes these are still referred to as a fuse. If you can find the consumer unit the ampage is normally one of the numbers on MCB. Typically lighting circuits are 10 amps or less, ring mains for sockets around 30. Just checked and our oven is on a 40amp MCB.

Do you know if during the refit the electrician fitted a new consumer unit just to service the kitchen or was it wired to your existing consumer unit ? If the former then I guess that the whole unit is tripping which is also taking out the kitchen sockets linked to the same unit. Seems strange. Could be worth checking that they have fitted an appropriately rated miniature circuit breaker (MCB) for the cooker 30 amps is normal. I certainly hope that they haven't combined the cooker and sockets on the same circuit - they should be separate. I guess my point is if you "seriously" want to swim in a Lido then 2 miles is hardly much distance-wise, even in London. Besides, if you got a bike then it would only take 10 minutes and you'd not generate any fumes. It's funny how relative "local" is.

I'm in need of a new bike (having had my old one stolen) and I'm very interested in one with a Gates Belt Drive e.g. Roux A8 ( http://www.rouxbikes.co.uk/carbon-drive-a8/ ) or Scott Sub Speed 10 ( http://www.scott-sports.com/gb/en/products/241513008/SCOTT-Sub-Speed-10-Bike ) Does anyone have any experience of belt driven bikes that they can pass on ? My main concern is around maintaining the belt tension correctly especially if I have a puncture and have to remove the rear wheel to repair. TIA

I stopped outside the Grove Vale library this evening (Tuesday around 6:10pm) on my way home from work and left my bike unlocked right outside the door. I would normally lock it and remove the bags but I anticipated being in the library about 15-20 seconds as I just needed to ask the librarian a quick question. In that time my bike was stolen along with my bags that contained wallet, phone, spare glasses, clothes etc etc. A couple of people saw it happen (I think) and they said it was two people that headed off towards Dog Kennel Hill. The Android findmydevice showed it located somewhere around Pytchley Road. If anyone sees discarded old grey panniers or an old Edinburgh Cycle Coop Courier bike then could you PM me. Ta

Does anyone know of anywhere with printed catalogues for the Artists Open House ? http://dulwichfestival.co.uk/artists-open-house/ I've not seen any so it's possible that they've not been printed yet.

East Dulwich Hospital Site Planning Consultation
ed_pete replied to Charlie Smith's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Personally I doubt that any architectural debate is likely to hold things up any more than they are already. Whatever is to happen with the existing building cannot happen until the existing health services have moved out and according to the Charter that won't be "until 2019 at the earliest." I have no problem with heritage architecture. I just don't think its appropriate here and I really don't like the way that all of the so-called conceptual plans only include options for retaining the "chateau" and no alternatives were put forward. -

James Barber Wrote: > Keeping the central Chateau will have been > identified as a key aspect to get planning > permission. Knocking down the chateau I believe > would seriously risk not planning permission. So this is new news James. What you are saying, in your (expert) opinion, is that the building of the school is largely predicated on retaining the central Chateau. Funny, I have never heard this mentioned before, not on the long threads about the two original bids, not at CC meetings and not at the consultation meeting where I spoke to the architects and chair of the school trust. Do you know something they don't ? -
Yeah Lou's cashed in.

Consultation still open till 19/4. Retention of any of the existing hospital building ?the central chateaux? is bound to lead to compromises from an architectural design standpoint. The building has served its purposes and now needs to go to make way for something that is innovative, inspirational, exciting and modern. East Dulwich is not a museum and we need to free ourselves from the past and look to the future. -

There are no official plans as yet as it's still at the pre-planning stage. This is the best of what's currently available: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/4491/east_dulwich_hosapital_consultation_boards -
Sweaty Betty - the final nail in the gentrification coffin?
ed_pete replied to Louisa's topic in The Lounge
Louisa - you puzzle me. "LM the problem is small independents are being replaced by small chains. " "I wouldn't have had a problem with pret a manger or space nk coming into this space for example. " I don't think many would describe Pret as a small chain and I would have thought a shop selling moisturiser for ?110 a pop would appeal directly to the same crowd as Sweaty Betty.
