  1. Does anyone know of anywhere with printed catalogues for the Artists Open House ? http://dulwichfestival.co.uk/artists-open-house/ I've not seen any so it's possible that they've not been printed yet.

  3. Personally I doubt that any architectural debate is likely to hold things up any more than they are already. Whatever is to happen with the existing building cannot happen until the existing health services have moved out and according to the Charter that won't be "until 2019 at the earliest." I have no problem with heritage architecture. I just don't think its appropriate here and I really don't like the way that all of the so-called conceptual plans only include options for retaining the "chateau" and no alternatives were put forward.

Knocking down the chateau I believe > would seriously risk not planning permission. So this is new news James. What you are saying, in your (expert) opinion, is that the building of the school is largely predicated on retaining the central Chateau. Funny, I have never heard this mentioned before, not on the long threads about the two original bids, not at CC meetings and not at the consultation meeting where I spoke to the architects and chair of the school trust. Do you know something they don't ?
  5. Yeah Lou's cashed in.

  7. Consultation still open till 19/4. Retention of any of the existing hospital building ?the central chateaux? is bound to lead to compromises from an architectural design standpoint. The building has served its purposes and now needs to go to make way for something that is innovative, inspirational, exciting and modern. East Dulwich is not a museum and we need to free ourselves from the past and look to the future.
  8. OK for me too (nr Dulwich Hospital). Things have definitely improved. The below shows my download speeds since February and it looks to have gotten better around mid March.

  10. Maybe ping your councillors an email and see if they can sort it out.

  12. Be clear about Avoidance and Evasion. I have an ISA therefore I am avoiding but not evading tax. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27372841
  13. There are no official plans as yet as it's still at the pre-planning stage. This is the best of what's currently available: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/4491/east_dulwich_hosapital_consultation_boards
  14. Louisa - you puzzle me. "LM the problem is small independents are being replaced by small chains. " "I wouldn't have had a problem with pret a manger or space nk coming into this space for example. " I don't think many would describe Pret as a small chain and I would have thought a shop selling moisturiser for ?110 a pop would appeal directly to the same crowd as Sweaty Betty.

    Undertones

Great interview with the Undertones (exc Fergal Sharkey) on Steve Lamacq's show yesterday between 5 and 6 discussing their first album. Catch it on iPlayer.
  16. It's appalling that Southwark haven't put this properly within the Consultation Hub of their website. The best I can find is here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200079/regeneration/3959/east_dulwich_hospital_site There is a link to a Word document that is designed to be filled in by hand not on screen. The email address to return it to is [email protected] (which also seems wrong). My own view on the architecture of the school and hospital buildings is that they are not radical enough and are playing it very safe. The building has served its purpose. Lets start afresh with something modern, inspiring and designed to be fit for the 21st century. http://www.dezeen.com/2010/10/18/evelyn-grace-academy-by-zaha-hadid-architects/

  18. My two-penneth To a large extent I think that laptops are priced as a commodity i.e. you get what you pay for though there is some brand premium. I would try before you buy as some have a more solid feel than others. Buy as much RAM as you can afford (at least 8GB) Get the fastest processor you can afford (ideally Intel i5 or i7) As others have said get one with a hybrid drive or an SSD though bear in mind that in terms of capacity you will get less compared to a normal hard drive. If you buy a Mac (new or second hand) then bear in mind that you if you have software packages on your VAIO that you want to continue using (assuming that you have the original disks) then they probably won?t be compatible.
  19. You could apply to Southwark for one of these: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1622398,page=1
  20. I use the FixMyStreet app on my phone. Quite useful as you can pinpoint the issue on a map, see if its already been reported and attach a photo. At the backend I think it just sends an email to Southwark.
  21. Could someone pass me the cheese and crackers...thanks. Port anyone ?

  23. If someone has or knows someone that has had a red Roma mobility scooter stolen then there is one at the bottom end of Greendale near the railway bridge. Looks stolen as the cover over the lock has been broken.
  24. I bloody hate Masterchef. 25 friggin episodes - 25 ! Might as well rename it Holby Kitchen.
  25. I lost my wallet back in January (subsequently found and returned, amazingly) and reported my lost credit card American Express. My Oyster auto top up was linked to the lost card and I only realised recently that it was still working and payments had been taken even though I hadn?t updated my account with the new card details. Isn?t this slight odd ? (The payments were charged to the new card)
