  1. Brushes for coloured paint cost a lot more and have a shorter lifespan - that'd probably explain it.
  2. I think they might have overreached themselves a little - I don't think even the Sweaty Betty crowd are quite in this league just yet.
  3. Better get the Southwark noise people on speed dial in advance.

  6. If - as was mentioned above - Southwark didn't get involved, though I guess they would have to lease the land at least, then I could see the cost of using the facility being quite high as there wouldn't be any subsidy. I guess Southwark could insist on reduced prices as a condition of granting permission but that might make the proposition unattractive. In the end it all comes down to the business case.

  9. Have you tried removing and cleaning the u-bend ? The water in the u-bend is supposed to block foul air from the drain maybe it's not working correctly.
  10. Foxy you forgot to mention that the council employees then line their pockets with said fines and use it to buy luxury villas in the Med (allegedly). http://www.ifs.org.uk/publications/7621

As regards your question about the "30 amp fuse". "Fuses" aren't fitted any more, modern consumer units have the MCB's that I referred to but sometimes these are still referred to as a fuse. If you can find the consumer unit the ampage is normally one of the numbers on MCB. Typically lighting circuits are 10 amps or less, ring mains for sockets around 30. Just checked and our oven is on a 40amp MCB.
  17. Do you know if during the refit the electrician fitted a new consumer unit just to service the kitchen or was it wired to your existing consumer unit ? If the former then I guess that the whole unit is tripping which is also taking out the kitchen sockets linked to the same unit. Seems strange. Could be worth checking that they have fitted an appropriately rated miniature circuit breaker (MCB) for the cooker 30 amps is normal. I certainly hope that they haven't combined the cooker and sockets on the same circuit - they should be separate. I guess my point is if you "seriously" want to swim in a Lido then 2 miles is hardly much distance-wise, even in London. Besides, if you got a bike then it would only take 10 minutes and you'd not generate any fumes. It's funny how relative "local" is.

  22. I'm in need of a new bike (having had my old one stolen) and I'm very interested in one with a Gates Belt Drive e.g. Roux A8 ( http://www.rouxbikes.co.uk/carbon-drive-a8/ ) or Scott Sub Speed 10 ( http://www.scott-sports.com/gb/en/products/241513008/SCOTT-Sub-Speed-10-Bike ) Does anyone have any experience of belt driven bikes that they can pass on ? My main concern is around maintaining the belt tension correctly especially if I have a puncture and have to remove the rear wheel to repair. TIA

  25. I stopped outside the Grove Vale library this evening (Tuesday around 6:10pm) on my way home from work and left my bike unlocked right outside the door. I would normally lock it and remove the bags but I anticipated being in the library about 15-20 seconds as I just needed to ask the librarian a quick question. In that time my bike was stolen along with my bags that contained wallet, phone, spare glasses, clothes etc etc. A couple of people saw it happen (I think) and they said it was two people that headed off towards Dog Kennel Hill. The Android findmydevice showed it located somewhere around Pytchley Road. If anyone sees discarded old grey panniers or an old Edinburgh Cycle Coop Courier bike then could you PM me. Ta
