  1. Fuck, no food or water - yet they were following a stream, didn't cross their minds to have a flippin drink from it then.
  2. I found it by accident last year before I went to New York. I had been Googling a map of the area where I was staying and came across the street view. I knew there was a decent grocery store at the end of the road before I'd even got there! It is useful in that way, but kind of ruins the surprise element of visiting somewhere for the first time.
  3. yes, me too. Little bastards are hatching out and chomping those woolies
  4. Have you read the book by Robert Elms "The Way We Wore"? You might like it. I read your name as Acid Casualty first ha ha, different thing entirely
  5. lovey dovey lovey dovey all the time
  6. and a Baracuta is a fish I think or hang on, is it the original mod jacket - can I phone a friend?
  7. Ooooh, I was thinking you were making quite good sense there until then last sentence when you got all fashion one-upmanship on us.

  10. no surprise here (to me anyway)
  11. I suggest you read "Fast Food Nation" Snorky, may enlighten you a little. It's got nothing to do with percveived snobbery.
  12. I have never had a cheeseburger from McD so your assertion is untrue, mainly because I've been a non-meat eater most of my life. I ate a couple of their filet o fish about 25 years ago but now I'm more well-informed and socially aware (obviously, read smug middle-class snob) I wouldn't eat anything from there. I used to live very close to the McD on Walworth Rd and the smell of the frying fat and the litter dumped in the streets was vile.
  13. Maybe a Dreams bed shop or a dfs sofa shop would be preferable
  14. @ Louisa - I'm not suggesting the shop staff were in the right and it would piss me off if that happened but I'd bring it to their attention rather than just leave. I'm well aware what good customer service is. But hey, according to you I'm just a middle-class snob who for some weird reason likes to subject myself to poor customer service and over-priced tat with a smug sense of self-satisfaction. Or something along those lines. PS. the few times I've been in there and once or twice even bought something they've been fine.
  15. The big Georgian one on Village Way/Pondmead. Huge conservatory.
  16. I would have said 'excuse me, could I have some service please' after ooooh probably 45 seconds in that situation rather than stand there for 10 whole minutes
  17. I'm with RosieH and Quids on this debate, but as a by the by, I found myself at a MJ gig at Wembley Stadium in the late eighties. I got a free ticket and wasn't that bothered about being there BUT I was totally blown away and it remains one of the most exciting gigs I've ever been to.
  18. Is comic relief like hand relief but funnier?
  19. ahhahahaha, me too, diggin the humour also, get them on here.
  20. it's so confusing, I can't keep up
  21. Exactly, more investment in schools and the teachers is the only answer. Nobody wants to pay more tax though.
  22. I'm not sure that is strictly true, I think there is a fairly large proportion of middle income families at the school, judging from the kids I know. I think there is something to be said for a small catchment area, it offers a sense of community. What's the point of having a large catchment if there's no room at the inn. It's not the fault of the population that there aren't enough schools to go round. When I moved to Dulwich Charter wasn't really an option then, I'm just lucky that it is now and that my son can walk to school and that most of the kids he's there with live nearby. I certainly don't feel smug but yes I feel fortunate.
  23. OK, on looking at their website apparently it's something called 'Contextual Value Added', which is how far kids improve from entering the school until year 11, that puts it in the top 10% nationally.
  24. I agree Citizen, and it keeps all the green space around which would surely be carved up for development otherwise.
