  1. My concern is for those who are either disabled, in powered wheelchairs, are partially sighted or blind, especially for those who live in supported accommodation in Underhill Road and Lordship Lane and have to navigate these disguarded bikes and scooters as they go about living their lives. Am actually surprised no one has tripped or fallen over any of these hazardous bikes yet.
  2. You'd think/expect that where the burst is and the level of disruption that it is causing, Thames Water would deal with it as an actual emergency. Not surprised the temp traffic lights have failed, temp lights always seem to be unreliable.
  3. Any updates on the progress of the Underhill Rd/Lordship Lane junction Thames Water repair?
  4. This morning unfortunately I got caught up in this, both ways in and out of Forest Hill, Nightmare is an under estimation of the inconvenience it is causing, there was NO ONE WORKING on the repair at the junction of Underhill/Lordship Lane, Best to be avoided but that is pretty much impossible whatever direction you are coming in. The Overhill temp traffic lights and amount of traffic queuing there was far less and moving reasonably quickly. I hope Thames Water can pull there finger out of the proverbial hole and get this repair done so traffic can once again flow freely.
  5. Bonfire night "In early 1606, an act was passed which declared that November 5 shall be recognised as a day of thanksgiving in celebration of the fact that King James I's life, among many others, was spared that day." "On November 5 each year people across the UK light bonfires, let off fireworks, and burn effigies of a man named Guy Fawkes. The reason we do this is because it's the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot (1605); a failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London by a group of dissident Catholics." History may have been very different if the plot had succeeded.
  6. Do you actually mean Royal Mail who handle, sort, distribute and deliver the mail across the UK. The Post Office do not deliver the mail, they merely act as "agents" collecting mail at Post Offices and selling postage. And what what you like to see replace Royal Mail?
  7. I'd like to see NFNs (No firework neighbourhoods) - 100% in agreement with you.
  8. Toolstation - a huge plus, there's even one opening in the centre of Lewisham, glad to see them expanding opening new branches.
  9. what do you mean by "greenwashing"?
  10. Whereabouts in ED are they?
  11. British politic sis currently an absolute farce. What the people want is a General election, not another Conservative Prime Minister, three in a year, what a total joke.
  12. isn't their a saying something along the lines of, he who laughs loudest, laughs last???
  13. Cameron, May, Johnson all Toast Kwarteng, now toast, thrown under the bus by Truss Parrot Truss, days and counting till she gets thrown out by the grey suits based on her performance at the press conference today, her behaviour was unforgivable, don't like the questions, don't like the heat in the kitchen, then very well just do one Riling the political commentators is the worst thing to do, they will be circling her with sharpen knives to get her out, as Prime Minister you don't walk out of a press conference because you don't like the questions, disgraceful. The only way forward is an election Conservatives will get trashed and out of power for a decade Only way Labour can get in is if Rayner gets thrown of the front bench Last thing we need is a collation based on 2010 - 2015 Effectively UK Plc is down the pan, we need is a political force to reunite the country to move it forward. Never have I ever seen such political turmoil in all my live
  14. two pints of lager and a packet of crisps please
  15. I have found that co-op's prices have increased to the extent that hey are more expensive for staples and have increased prices i.e. milk than the other supermarkets. Sainsbury's Price lock range is not actually price locked, prices of these items have been "sneakily" increased even though they are apparently "price locked - NOT" Always was under the impression that M&S was the most expensive locally but according to BB that is not the case? The necessity to shop at more than one supermarket has been an ongoing requirement to save money and that appears to need to continue. Looking out for price reductions on specific Specials that are needed is the way to go. Unfortunately we are ALL suffering and those independents who charge more than the going rate my in time regret the decision when the footfall to there door goes elsewhere. But one thing is sure, the electorate won't forget about three years of Johnson sleaze and Truss and Kwarteng's disastrous start with escalating the cost of living crisis and punishing those with a mortgage with significantly higher monthly repayments, crashing the economy and if things were not bad enough already. Added to that the domestic fuel crisis, with the punishing and totally unjustified daily standing charge increases. How these can be justified beggars belief! The standing charge has increased by 185% since September 2019, the cost of gas per KWh increased by 373% and the cost of electricity per KWh has increased by 260% over the same period. Come the next election if not before, the Conservatives will be booted out of office for making an utter shambles of the economy and making its people suffer.
  16. Raise a complaint with all your evidence and submit to Thames Water with the [email protected] (which is the key to success), get assigned a case reference number and case manager, they bend over backwards to sort things out, works wonders and results in reduction in what you will pay through the compensation you will receive for their continued errors.
  17. There are traffic lights at the junction of Woodvale/ Forest Hill Road, Traffic lights just past the 63 terminus bus stop, traffic lights at the Forest Hill Road Dunstan's road junction, oh I remember the days when there were none except for a zebra crossing where the traffic lights are now at the Forest Hill Road/Dunstan's road junction and how the traffic flowed so freely, no queues but then those who know best had three sets of traffic lights installed between Woodvale/Forest Hill Road and Dunstan's Road/Forest Hill Road!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it's a 20mph stretch pf road. Sorry to hear about your neighbours cat.
  18. Won't be a GE for two years because the Conservatives know they would be annihilated. The electorate won't forget that Truss and Kwarzi crashed the economy within 27 days or being in office, they also won't forgive the forced increase in mortgage repayments because Kwarzi made a major error in his tax "giveaway", the ratcheting up of domestic fuel costs etc. £400 helps but in no way of sets the increases. Elec KWh Elec Stand Charge Gas KWh Gas Stand Charge % Increase 01/10/2022 261 186 373 183 % Increase 01/04/2022 216 188 266 185 % increase calculated on costs from September 2020 v October 2022
  19. Personally I prefer to go in person and pick what I want, especially for chilled and fresh items. Their "pickers" have no concept of use by dates or quality of produce.
  20. Generally self check out tends to be quicker than queuing for a till with a checkout person, but one question, why have Sainsbury's shut the exit at the far end of the store by the self service tills, now making everyone enter and leave through one set of doors at the store entrance, very weird, bearing in mind Autumn is here and I'd have thought they'd revert to one entrance and one exit to reduce the chances of passing Covid on.
  21. While Lidl may be "cheaper" than the other supermarkets, the good thing about Lidl is the quality of some of their specific products and the weekly opportunity to try new things when they have "flavour of the week" weeks. A couple of weeks ago they had Italian week, some lovely biscuits that were really cheap and worth every penny. And dried mushrooms etc.
  22. Perhaps the lack of labour to bring in the Broccoli crop is the reason for such long stalks, who knows.
  23. Tesco (OKR) had own brand Dijon mustard in stock last week.
  24. Moving things around aisles/the store is the stores way of making you search out the products you want to purchase and they hope you'll see other items as you look that they hope you'll buy them, all it does is extend the length of the shopping "experience"
