  1. I don't defend any inappropriate behaviour and any such behaviour needs to be exposed and dealt with by the law and justice system. However that is all getting away from the main point and fact that this primary school may well be closing, so perhaps its better for all of us to stick to the jiste of the thread title.
  2. No problem with you "having an issue with publicly funded schools which then have discriminatory admissions policies, based on a parent's religion", that's your choice but for some having their child taught in a religious school is important. And; As I have already said it instils values that are lacking from general society. And Yes, I did go to a Religious school and it did me no harm. It makes you a more "rounded" person with an appreciation of the benefits of having a belief, whatever that belief maybe.
  3. Partygate is coming to a Rye near you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Maybe the plan is to take the assets value with them when they go. My other thought is what will happen to the Nun's who have given their lives to the convent and school. Will they have to return overseas or can they have a well earned and deserved retirement?
  5. If you have no faith you are a lost soul. Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If your faith is important, DIY! Ample time for > instruction at home. Most folk are godless but > dissemble to get better education - hardly the > stuff of religious values.
  6. You may yourself be against religious schools, but they allow parents to have their children brought up and taught with faith, nothing wrong with that and it instils value's and morals which are sadly lacking from today's society. It may not be everyone's choice, but choice there is and it does no harm whatever your believe is or is not. 7. Thanks, that's very insightful to learn about its past. Whatever the outcome of the consultation and in case he school does close, it would be lovely to keep at least the frontage of the main building. The site is huge, if closure is agreed it could easily be developed into multiple flats, more so with the land at the rear on Honor Oak Park. 8. And your point is????????????????? If it's a dig at James, he's no longer a councillor, so a wasted dig. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James Barber was instrumental in helping Harris > acquire two sites (Harris boys opposite the > Peckham Rye and Harris primary on site of old > police station, Lordship Lane) and getting Charter > the lion's share of the hospital site. > Sally Eva Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > sweetgirl Wrote: > > > -------------------------------------------------- > > > ----- > > > I?d like to see what James barber has to say > on > > > this matter, after all he was one of the > > persons > > > involved in making Harris primary happen when > > it > > > clearly wasn?t needed! > > > > > > It?s unbelievable what councils like to waste > > > money on! > > > > I'm not sure how much input the council has > over > > the Harris academy in Peckham. 9. Just to correct the false statement which has been made, it is NOT Southwark who are proposing the closure of the school, but the school itself. an important difference. Southwark will have to deal with the resulting "fall out", i.e. help find school places. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Indeed, we were told it was vital there were more > schools and much energy was put into getting a > number built and opened and now we learn Southwark > is looking at closing schools. > > sweetgirl Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > I?d like to see what James barber has to say on > > this matter, after all he was one of the > persons > > involved in making Harris primary happen when > it > > clearly wasn?t needed! > > > > It?s unbelievable what councils like to waste > > money on!
  10. Exactly what I was thinking, as it will be prime land for redevelopment, but such a shame for the school to go but I appreciate it's nit viable financially to continue. A further thought, what was on the land before the school?
  11. Plane, yes it was a typo, thanks for pointing it out.
  12. You live in the Capital city of the UK, if you don't expect to see and hear planes, well quite frankly I'd suggest moving out of Greater London entirely.
  13. I doubt that is the cause for St. Francesca Cabrini considering closing. And James Barber is no longer a councillor.
  14. I'd have thought it was in Southwark as it is on that side of the road which is classed as Southwark, isn't it?
  15. See; https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/honor-oaks-st-francesca-cabrini-primary-school-could-close-after-nuns-announce-plans-to-move-to-africa/
  16. Perhaps keep it in relation to Brenchley Gardens rather than the wider debate. The last I'd heard the idea had been dropped. i) Does anyone know when it was resurrected; And ii) Are their more details about the proposals?
  17. Gove in full flow demonstrating what an elegant and great orator Michael is.
  18. So many tunes and so little time to squeeze them all in by closedown, but lets start with two more outstandingly stonking good "Going home for the weekend" tunes from 1973 and 1975 with; The Intruders, "I'll Always Love My Mama" Followed swiftly by; The Trammps, "Trusting Heart"
  19. In addition to your taste test, perhaps you can say what the price/Kg is as well. Red Leicester from Mons 24-month aged Parmesan (Cheese Block) vs. 36-month aged Parmesan (Mons).
  20. Did you fit yourself or do you have someone you can recommend to fit them? Thanks
  21. It's not just converters that are being taken, they have been known to break into BMW's (seems top be the flavour of the month car" and nicking air bags, steering wheels and even partial dashboards. Scary times. Can only assume that there's currently a black market for these items
  22. Look I agree totally with you about only paying what you owe, that's what I do, but seriously you have to remember that a lot of their staff are nothing less than a bunch of clowns, that can be extremely frustrating to deal with. Hence being polite to them and playing the long game. However sarcasm is the lowest form and wit and I don't appreciate it either, so I'll offer you some constructive advise; i) If as you say they have abused your personal data, (phone number and records) then as I said, if you have the solid proof which I hope you can evidence, then there are causes of redress to use against them that I have already mentioned. ii) Have you raised a formal complaint with Thames Water about what you are accusing them of? If you email [email protected] with all the details and evidence to support your case that will commence an investigation. That is the first step I'd recommend that you take. You'll get a complaints reference number and an assigned complaints handler (these are not not general complaints staff but several layers higher. I hope that is useful.
  23. Yes, Thames Water can be a difficult beast to engage with. I had issues with them, after much "discussion" shall we say they saw sense and for the last 6 month bill after the "compensation" they paid me for their incompetence to provide a service I still ended up in credit. You need to speak to the right people and then miraculously things suddenly happen and you go from being an extremely dissatisfied customer to a moderately contented customer. Do you have evidence that they have passed your details to third parties, if yes I'd be speaking with OfWAT and The Information Commissioners Office. Easy to say but try paying on time and don't get into an aggressive argument with them. Be prepared to play the long game, be nice to them and its amazing how helpful they can actually be.
