  1. The problem with France is that it is too close to England. And you can take that either way you like.
  2. Wasn?t that guy out of Only Fools and Horses a plongeur?

  5. Let's just ban France and have done with it.
  6. I?m uncomfortable with the state. I?m also uncomfortable in a dress.

  8. There is some precedent for this. In Turkey it is illegal to wear religious dress (be it Muslim, Christian or Jedi) in public. Although it is a very different country from France but they saw a definite need to enforce secularism to a certain degree.
  9. Well then those catholic baptisms that my sister and I had without either godparent being a catholic must have not occurred. In which case I can only assume that both of us are dammed to hell.
  10. No they aren't.
  11. C of e? As in Church of England? Fuck me! My godfather is a scientologist and my godmother a priestess in the Church of Satan but I don?t think Father Findlay would have allowed someone from the Church of England.
  12. So you are catholic then?

Balls. I'm catholic and neither of my godparents are. They were there all present and correct at my christening next to the priest in St Patrick?s. I?ve seen the pictures.
  14. No I?m not confusing them. A designated legal guardian is someone who takes over care for a child if something happens to the parents. This is different to a godparent whose role is of moral support. (at least in my understanding) Although there is nothing to say that a godparent can?t also be a guardian.
  15. Using decimal style fractions with imperial measures if something I have noticed people do recently. The width of skateboards for instance come in measurements such 8.25? (meaning 8 ?) or 8.5? (meaning 8 ?). I blame the Americans. Not because of any real evidence you understand but just because it?s easy.
  16. It all sounds very intriguing. Although those of us who are married may assume in our cynicism that they were probably just having an argument about directions, he?d got them lost and she was head-butting him in the nuts for it.
  17. What do they weigh dinosaurs in?
  18. Maybe we do things a little different where I?m from but normally a godparent should be a sibling or cousin of one of the parents or a very close family friend. The most important thing is that it is someone who will take a moral responsibility for the child should anything happen to the parents. Other than that all it really just entails if a banknote in a birthday card once a year and attendance at certain events like 21st birthdays, weddings, confirmations, bar mitzvahs, trials etc.
  19. Heartfelt congrats!
  20. Or they may catch on fire.
  21. Are firemen allowed to have taches? Won?t they catch on fire when you run into burning buildings?

So is this your point then: .?
  23. Good, good. The Court of Appeal judge obviously came on here and took my advice on how to deal with this.
  24. What type of effect (if any) did the local stores shutting down have on the desirability of the area, house prices etc?

    Modern music

It?s just age. The type of music they play on the radio and television is (and was) always crap. As we get old we just get less able to scratch the surface and find the decent stuff. I?m sure it is still out there I?m just too busy to seek it out. But every now and again a gem like the Decemberists floats to the surface. For the most part however I?m perfectly happy listening to early 90s punk and alternative and pretending it?s current.
